Whether you are attending a university or college, the ability to demonstrate a clear study intent is the paramount importance. To an extent, it may be true that a Master's program especially a Thesis (with funding) may give a more competitive edge to a possible approval, but it doesn't necessarily mean that opting for a PGD/C program will reduce your visa chances.
