I've sponsored my wife who is residing outside Canada. Following is the timeline for my second application (first application was refused due to proxy marriage):


case submitted CPC-M May 16, 2018
medical requisition July 3, 2018
Sponsor Eligibility determined July 5, 2018
case transferred to LVO August 3, 2018
letter before refusal April 23, 2019
final decision June 3, 2019
appeal filed June 19, 2019
hearing February 10, 2020
Appeal allowed February 12, 2020
Nothing afterwards

I've sent multiple enquiries each after every 2-3 months using webform and I get the same kind of a reply stating that "the application is still in process". My lawyer also is getting similar replies. Also my MP has followed up my application multiple times since October 2020.

Please if anyone can advise on what else can be done as I've been waiting to hear from LVO for over 20 months now after appeal was allowed.

Hi... can you please share what question they asked for you in hearing? They asked question specific for refusal reasoning mentioned in refusal letter or any question? I am waiting for my hearing...

Hello Guys:

I talked with a lawyer yesterday because I would like to apply a visitor visa for my spouse. During the conversation, he told me that CPC-M is in a extreme short staff situation so it is normal that the application is not moving and he said it is chaos now in the immigration side.
So I assume there wills still be a long way for us to wait and he clearly indicated that MP is useless.

Anybody can tell me please how much time they are taking currently if someone win the apeal .

Appeal is a long process. It will take 2 to 3 years in Full Hiring. It's better to reapply. I face this shit nightmare already. Rest is your decision.

I started new career in immigration because of this process. But, no I had contact with IAD and they confirmed with me where file is. They sent file via post to VO. On October 7th, 2021. My hearing was October 6th, 2020

My husband read something online regarding security checks and whats causing the delay. Apparently the checks are completed by CSIS and they are short staff. It was on CICNews.

Sorry not sure I understand. When we win appeal the file is sent to CPC-M. Why did you call IAD after one year?

After one year IAD still have a copy of your file? I thought the file gets transfer? Who sent your file to VO on Oct 7th - IAD or CPC-M?
