Daily commute counts as presence days in Canada. This is different. Their trip was a "long one", with stamps (i.e. proofs) on passports. I would be surprised if this isn't consider misrepresentation, although the short days are few. If you don't have stamps with 100s of daily trips to the US, then maybe the officer can understand. I don't think even withdrawing the application can solve this problem if they already figured this out. In the withdrawal form, they mentioned that they may deny the withdrawal if the file is under investigation. It's all with the officer's discretion now. A waiting game to see what they say.
In my own def
The physical presence check usually comes after the test. If they then find out that you have not met the requirements, then there might be repercussions because of that. The first symptom is you getting a Residency Questionnaire (RQ).

2 days short is still not meeting the requirements for citizenship.

IF they find out, then the application will likely be refused after a lengthy procedure of the aforementioned RQ submission and review.

If I were in this situation, I would let them know the mistake, apologize for the error and wait for their response. You could also withdraw the application since you know for sure you aren't eligible and apply again. Your BG checks should likely be completed soon if you apply again because your criminality and security clearances would still be valid.
Thank you for the advice. I have phoned, emailed, mailed and webformed them. I even wrote a letter by hand explaining that I discovered this mistake and would like to withdraw. Now is just to wait and see what they reply. I think I have done all I could.

You could miscalculate that you’re 2 days short too. If you spend at least 1 minute of any day in Canada, it counts as one day, if I’m not mistaken…
If you really miscalculated, pray that they don’t notice it. Otherwise your application will be considered non-routine, and it will take time to clarify things.
The good example of scenario #2 on this forum is luvtrump
you should either see sunrise or sunset in Canada to qualify

Hi, I am March 2020 applicant. AOR: Oct.2020. I completed my citizen test in August 2021 and provided my passport scan on Sep 2021.

Today, for some reason I checked my physical presence and just realized that I may be short of 2 days from 1095.

Now I am really worried what might go next...

When they send you test invite, does that mean that you have passed the physical presence? Should I inform them now?

I actually don't remember all my past travel now and I am really short of 2 days from the record I think.

Help and advice is gratefully appreciated!
Hey! I did the SAME exact thing and also passed my citizenship test. my advice is to withdraw your application ASAP. I did not do that despite people advising me to do it and they dragged me for an entire year before refusing my application and then I had to apply again this year. seriously withdraw ASAP

Thank you for the advice. I actually phoned, webformed, emailed and mailed and handwritten a letter to the officer explaining what I discovered and would like to withdraw now. Now is waiting for them to get back to me on the withdrawal. I should have been more careful.

This thread seems interesting and i have to ask a question I might be in the same situation but I would think I’m not! So here’s the story
Entered Canada and got PR June, 9, 2017
applied for Citizenship grant June 10, 2020

so question how they calculate days, per an online calculator it said i have 1096 days without considering June 9 and June 10th( 2 days). Out of those 1096 days i have 2 hour trip outside canada!
So after seeing this I have started thinking I might be short on days that’s why still haven’t got the test invite??? What’s your opinion on this?
the day you enter or leave Canada count as presence in Canada. And for 2 hour if you return on same day in Canada then it also count as presence in Canada so you are all good .do not take any stress of this.

Yes, just a reminder that even if you make a day trip to the US, you should still declare it in the physical presence calculator. Some people might miss that.

This is the official definition of absence. Any day you are not absent is considered present:
  • Absences will be calculated only for days where an applicant spent no time at all in Canada. Dates where an applicant left Canada, or returned to Canada will not be counted as an absence since the applicant was physically present in Canada for a portion of both days.

So i would like to highlight some important stuff from CIC Withdrawal procedures page. Not as easy as it seems.

It should be noted that while citizenship officials and citizenship judges are able to advise applicants of the option to withdraw, they should not recommend that an applicant do so, so as to avoid the perception that the decision was influenced or made for the benefit of IRCC or citizenship officials.

All requests for withdrawal of a citizenship application should be reviewed and assessed by a level 2 decision maker or a citizenship supervisor.

@rajkamalmohanram level 2 officer is basically the citizenship supervisor or similar level and my file was to be reviewed by them and now my withdrawal request will go to them too. file going to them is not a good sign.

Yup, got it. Withdrawals usually don't take too long. For example, @citizenship.enthusiast 's withdrawal didn't take too long. The OP withdrew the paper application and was able to apply online and get citizenship soon.

I think that particular user also applied for UP, which is why they got it sooner as well. I am curious what the datapoints would be behind people withdrawing their application and going through the whole process again online - it would be very hard to tell as obviously it would require two identical applicants having their cases be worked on by the exact same officers with the only delta being that one was online and the other a paper application :/
