Hi There,
Is there anyone who has applied for Trv after SA? I want to know if there’s any success chance? I’ve already got rejection for Trv before applying for spousal sponsorship of my spouse.
I tried to search about this and theoretically it seems that there is chance for approval after SA. Just want to know from people who have applied or thinking of applying.

- Your spouse can certainly submit another TRV application.
- Make sure the first refusal is declared in the new TRV application.
- Having SA / a spousal sponsorship application in progress does not generally increase the chances of approval. Generally it decreases the chances of approval since it demonstrate the TRV applicant has an intent to move to Canada long term.
- Your spouse needs to show stronger ties to their home country than in the previous TRV application to try to override the reasons why the application was refused the first time + the fact there is a spousal sponsorship application in progress
- However no harm in trying again. You might get lucky.

Thanks for your response. I’d really appreciate your response to follow up questions:

-Will there any Negative impact on the spousal sponsorship application if I apply for TRV?
-Last year there was an update for dual intent in Trvs which had a mention about Spousal application approval which I believe should be taken on the positive side, maybe it’s my interpretation.

Factors to consider include, but are not limited to,

  • whether the sponsorship application has been approved
  • whether the application for permanent residence has received stage one approval
  • to what extent the applicant has retained ties in their home country
  • what the applicant’s plan is, should their application for permanent residence be refused
-To show stronger ties what additional can be shown? Last time my spouse gave below docs:
1. Job No Objection Certificate with a leave plan on it.
2. Saving account with some money
3. Pension fund saving money certificate.
