extention of study permit for a wife, inland spouse application

I am in the process of sponsoring my wife who is on a study permit and wondering if I can apply for a study permit extension for her? Does anyone know?

yes if she is still studying she can apply for a study permit extension,

she is pregnant and will take off next semester.. will an open work permit or study permit be better? She won't be able to work due to labor anyway just to get her status while the application is under review?
