Can I apply for Open work permit from India ?

Hi Guys,
I have applied for an express entry earlier this month and waiting to get PNP nominations. My CRS score si 429. I had a discussion with one of my friend staying in Torronto related to jobs. She told me that if you have work permit than her HR could consider my profile for the jab. So, am I eligible to apply for open work permit ?

No. Your employer needs to apply for a LMIA and prove no Canadian or PR can do the job, only you. Then after paying $1k and filling out all the paperwork the employer waits for the LMIA. Once approved, you apply for a closed work permit. The process can take months and few employers are willing to go through the process.

But what provinces are you eligble for? What is your NOC? Open work permits are only available for certain circumstances. So not an option.

I'm eligible for Alberta and Saskatchewan. My NOC is 2173 (software engineer).

Your employer needs to start the process for LMIA exemption and then you apply for work permit. So talk to your employer. Only certain employees are elgibile - executives, senior management and those with technical knowledge that can't be done by Canadian employees. Manitoba is only an option if you have a job offer through recruitment mission or you have friends and family living in Manitoba. Sask. you need to be licensed.

Yes, of course you still need to apply for a work permit.

There are two options:

1) Your employer obtains an approved LMIA and then you apply for a closed work permit.
2) Your employer applies for an ICT (intra company transfer) closed work permit for you without an approved LMIA.
