Hi all,

my application is on the way to Sydney, NS for sponsoring my spouse. They should receive the application by AUG 23/2021.
with the current situation in Afghanistan, I am wondering if the process takes longer or shorter time. Really hoping it doesn’t take long. I am
Worried with everything going on.

anyone applied around this time and their spouse is in afghanistan, let’s stay connected.

Much love to my Afghan, I pray for all of our safety and our loved ones.

It's a hard question to answer right now. So far I have seen no announcements on this from IRCC. However I wouldn't be surprised if something is published soon.

My thoughts:
- There might be initial delays since IRCC may encounter processing challenges / delays as a result of the situation in the country itself.
- There's certainly a chance they may place a focus on expediting applications from this region due to the current circumstances.

These are just guesses. Ultimately we don't know yet and you'll have to see if IRCC announces something.

Good luck. These are extremely difficult and stressful times for anyone with family in Afghanistan.

In general Afghanistan tended to to have over a 1 year processing period. I would have your spouse apply for a TRV. They may be able to get a TRV due to the situation in Afghanistan. There are no negatives to applying. It’s a complex situation for various reason but I assume there is a good chance you likely don’t have an extensive relationship history which typically makes processing longer and more difficult to get a TRV. Without an embassy on the ground things will likely to be delayed.

1. Difficulty will be that the embassy in Afghanistan is closed,

My husband left Afghanistan and is now in Pakistan. He did his biometric. Our file got transferred to Vienna. I dont know if thats a good thing but the lady I spoke to said: we are transferring files to other visa office to expedite the process.
I am not sure what to expect from here. My application status online is not updates at all. I haven't heard great reviews about Vienna VO. So, I'm stressing now.

Thank you for your reply.
Well I hope he is safe and healthy. Just try your best to get your local MP engaged in your case. And also try to contact any women organisations, they have contacts with governement officials. Except the Afghan organisation, who are now in this hard time in sleeping mode, they never help their own people at all. Try your best to contact the MP and daily email and call them and the IRCC. Try to email the Vienna office as well and request them that your husband is in Pakistan and he has no one to support him and he has to come into Canada as soon as possible.
And also do not be stressed your husband will have medical exam request in afew days and I hope he come into Canada safely.
My friend's spouse got her medical within afew days after her biometric. So hopefully your husband will receive the medical request in a few days.
If any good news, do post so that we know how urgent they process the Afghan cases.
Thank you and hope for the best. Give the IRCC stress not yourself..:) best wishes and we all pray your husband reach safely to Canada..thanks

Final decision was made!! Husband submitted passport about three weeks ago. It is just on the way back to him now. IRCC Islamabad is using dx security delivery for courier. I don’t know how long their delivery process takes. I’m hoping he gets it tomorrow

Salam everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. My wife has left Afghanistan and is now in Pakistan waiting for her Canadian visa under the spousal sponsorship. She completed her medical a week ago. Do you know when would she potentially receive the passport request from the embassy? I also received an email from the Canadian embassy in Islamabad asking about how she crossed the border into Pakistan and if her passport was stamped and a few other related questions. Did anyone else receive such an email from them?

I would appreciate your responses.

Best regards,
Karim

W.salam,
Thank you brother, hope you are doing well.
Did you receive medical report confirmation that it has been received by the concerned embassy who is processing the application ? And if you have received the confirmation of the medical report In Sha Allah you will received the Passport request within a max of 15 working days. The process is very fast a friend of mine had all the process done in 42 days. Hope your application is also done as soon as possible.
Best wishes and do keep posting if any changes happen so that we all know about the cases.
Thank you and best wishes..

Thank you so much for sharing this. Yes, the medical report was received by IRCC four days ago. I hope they will process it soon. Do you know if all Afghan applicants are receiving emails from the Islamabad embassy to confirm details about how they crossed the border to Pakistan? Thank you and best wishes to you as well!

Thank you brother, yes, my friend received the email after the paspsort was submitted through VFS in islamabad. After sending the details, the next day the passport was dispatched with visa stamped. So hopefully everything will be processing very fast. When did you apply and when did they receive your application at the Sydney office ?
