Study permit delay

I applied for my study permit in early March. I applied with my parents. About 2 weeks later I received a notification that I was eligible for the express entry. I submitted my ielts result and bank statement. It's been over 5 months and my application has not been approved. I started taking online classes though, in May. I'm not sure if it's taking this long cause I applied with my parents. One would have thought it would be faster because of the express entry. I just wanted to know if anyone was in a similar position.

How can you apply with your parents if you are the student? What are you studying? What do you mean you received notification of eligibility for EE?

It's possible to apply with family members, ny parents applied for temporary residence though, I'm not sure this matters but I'm a minor.
I'm studying Psychology.
After I submitted my application (without my ielts result). I received a notification that I was eligible for the Nigerian Student Express. So I added my ielts result and another bank statement. The ielts is a requirement for one to be eligible for the NSE(EE). I hope I explained well?

How old are you? Your parents don’t apply tied to your study permit. Family members are your spouse and children not parents for study permits. They would have had to apply separately for their own TRVs. Their TRVs can’t be applied through your study permit application. So you have been studying without a permit since May at a public university.

17. Yes I've been studying since may and the school is aware of that, they advised me to start classes as long as they were online. I'm not sure I've explained well but I don't know if the definition of family members differs for minors.

No the definition of family members doesn’t differ. Study permits are not designed to bring your parents along. Your parents are not eligible for TRVS through your study permit application. You are under 17 so you would have had to have a Canadian guardian/custodian who you have appointed to oversee your stay in Canada until you are of age. Your parents can apply for TRVs separately. Your university‘s international affairs office should know this.

I understand you now. I have a canadian guardian though. Is there anything I can do about this?
So your Canadian guardian filled out all the paperwork and it was submitted with the application? All you can do is wait for a response on your study permit. Are you going to a public university because they should not be advising starting online classes since May without a permit.

Yes my guardians filled all the paperwork and it was submitted alongside the other documents. Yes it's a public university. Thank you, I guess I'll just have to hope for the best.
