If people are not willing to sign petitions with their real names, and even use hashtags anonymously, what make you think they would protest in-person possibly in front of media cameras? IRCC can and will retaliate. I am not willing to sign my real name or protest in-person and jeopardize my chances. We don't live in a totalitarian country, but I can designate IRCC in by itself as a totalitarian unit because of its lack of transparency and random processing of applications, especially for us non-citizens residents and immigrants. They can be held accountable by courts, but moving that direction is also risky.IRCC doesn't give two ***** about petitions, neither does Justin Trudeau or Marco whatshisname. And even if they did you wouldn't even get 500 people on this forum willing to sign it with their real names, never mind 2000. Take a look at this petition started a month or two ago, can't even get past first base in spite of all the whining and ranting about delays on this forum:

A lot of people who are outspoken and vocal here, for some strange reason, are only comfortable being so anonymously behind their keyboards. Half-assed efforts like online petitions or twitter hashtags, unfortunately, won't be sufficient to spur IRCC into action. It's time to play hardball with them, either through massive organized protests or legal action.
FWIW I'm betting the majority of people complaining here would not attend an in-person protest either, for the same reason that they do not want to out themselves by signing online petitions or engaging in hashtag activism on twitter using their real names. I was only advocating protests and legal actions as more concrete steps towards achieving our end goal than online petitions and keyboard activism. If people are not willing to sign petitions with their real names, and even use hashtags anonymously, what make you think they would protest in-person possibly in front of media cameras? I read somewhere here, they may have delayed someone's file because they kept calling them 2-3 times a week. Is this justified? Of course no, but if they did delay it, no one could have known or done anything, because they don't write this in notes. Ultimately, you may think because we live in a democracy, everything is transparent, but the reality is every department is trying to defend itself and survive by acting in a way that doesn't threaten its existence. Canada has proven to be behind UK and Australia in transparency. In the UK if your file is not processed within the processing time limit, they send you an explanation why your file won't be processed within the normal processing limits. Such transparency is lacking in Canada, and some policies need to be changed to change that, i.e., it must happen at a higher level to force IRCC into changing their actions.
This was in the Conservatives platform. Liberals are not concerned about the backlog. They want to bring more refugees to Canada as a Human Rights advocate. Maybe now the turn for Haitians to delay our applications for another 2 yearsIf there’s a paid option for processing, let’s say such as the US has premium processing (1200$ for approval within 15 days), I’m sure some of us would be more than happy to pay. Something to put in the petition maybe??
Liberals are bent on bringing more refugees , i was reading earlier they are doubling on Afghan refugees from 20000 to 40000This was in the Conservatives platform. Probably it's easier than reaching out to the minister of immigration.Well maybe we can put a request to the Queen to intervene and do something about IRCC lol
This will end badly. I hope they are at least prioritizing women and children over men so we don't have cases like these:Liberals are bent on bringing more refugees , i was reading earlier they are doubling on Afghan refugees from 20000 to 40000
We kind of knew that from their performance. They are old school and inefficient. It took them 10 months to implement a simple web application for the online test. I could have built it in a week. The $40M project probably will take a decade to be implemented.unrelated anecdote:
I live in Ottawa, I was selling something on Kijiji like a month ago
A guy came to make a sale, I chatted with him and turns out he will be leading a project to modernize IIRC, he works for the government in IT, I asked him a bit about the process there now, he said that it is a mess. Everything is excel sheet and paper based. lots of room for error and its really really bad
He said that the project wont start until the election is done cause trudeau put 40 million for it, so if the conservatives win it wont happen
With regards to what? The only thing they posted was about people sponsoring parents or grandparents. (Unless I missed something?)Guys, IRCC just posted on twitter. Please go and post there now. Let's mobilize and organize our efforts. It's the least we can do to be heard
