is it normal to get work permit approval for main applicant but not for spouse and kid?

I applied in india in 2020 June and September 2021 i got approval for closed LMIA based work permit. My wife and kid doesn't have approval yet, is it normal? Will their come anytime soon? Shall we wait few days before i decide to travel alone?

Wife was open work permit
Child was study permit

Yes it is normal. Applications may be processed separately. Up to you whether to travel.

You will then be able to write to them and appeal to their conscience about your need to be with your family as well the emotional support you both need from each other but cant get due to the separation they caused. Also remind them of Canada's family oriented immigration policy which being away from your family because of the delay in the approval of their visa doesn't represent.

Thank you, looks like my visa was printed today and i am expecting my passport in couple of days. I will be booking flights for around 25th September and will follow up once in Canada.

Appealing to be reunited with your family doesn’t speed up the application. All the other spouses applying for their OWP have the same argument. SOWP are based on the primary applicant getting approved for their WP first which is why the SOWP are usually received after the WP and sometimes months after. Application for the children are also processed separately.

This is helpful to know, since i am the primary applicant and i got approved and just got my passport back with Woker Visa Stamp, i am hoping something happens in next few weeks on their file.
