Hello,

I am planning to apply for spouse sponsorship for my wife. I am planning to apply for visitor visa and then apply for spousal PR here in canada after she comes here. Has anybody done that? I was told that it will take one month to get open work permit once you land here in canada on visitor visa. Please let me know if anyone did this and experience any long wait times.

Thank you

Currently or at least for me, the OWP just started processing and I applied in March of this year so the timelines are a little different now due to COVID

No - it won't take one month. It will take a minimum of 4 months but is taking closer to 8 months right now.
