Delay in processing visitor visa

I have applied for the Canadian Visitor Visa on Aug 4th from US and at that time the visitor application processing time was showing as 35 days, on canada.ca portal. However for me it has been more than 40 days and I have not received the approval/disapproval yet. Infact my Biometrics was uploaded to the portal was on Aug 9th. Is anybody else noticing that sort of delay and the number of processing days they mention on their portal is calendar days or weekdays?

My wife has got admission in a college in Ontario, so was thinking to move along with her and then will eventually apply for a work permit, as at this point in time my job is remote, so no hurry to get a work permit. And... the wait is still on, even after 40 days of filling my visa, not sure what to do now.

The big issue is you’re not a true visitor and if you’re not living in your home country it will be very difficult to prove that you have strong ties to your home country. Would suggest starting your OWP now since the process is long. If your employer has any offices or clients/customers in Canada you can’t work remotely from Canada without a permit.

Thank you for your input, I had a visitor visa which I applied in 2018 from US but it expired on Aug 9th this year and my plan was to visit Canada by the end of Aug, so that’s where the situation got tricky. Yeah, I am going to file OWP sooner than later but not sure how much time that’s gonna take. Perhaps that’s the solution I have at this point in time.
