you can lead it. my english is bad . a willing MP will be needed too which should be fairly easy given the upcoming elections as they will jump on an opportunity like this. past election it might not move as fast.
if the petition ends up in the house of commons, the govt has an obligation to respond within 45 days
YES !!! Its time to get motivated immigration minister to solve our problems.

Make sure to clearly state the goal : clear all paper based. First in first out. We cant accept hybrid mode e-application and paper. The documents shows delays of 4 years.

Enough .

OMG guys, look at the promises made by Liberals if re-elected. They are talking about getting rid of application fees yet they don't want to deal with paper apps that came with $630 CAD app fees. This government and IRCC are the biggest clowns in the world. Who can email, please email! Who can protest, please protest! Who can afford it, sue them! Canada is turning into a country of injustice.

Eliminating Citizenship Application Fees for Permanent Residents Permanent residents are deeply committed members of our communities. They work hard, start new businesses, pay taxes, raise their families, and do so in hope that they will one day be full citizens. Becoming a citizen allows new immigrants to fully participate in Canadian society. It should not be subject to a user fee. A re-elected Liberal government will: • Make the application process free for permanent residents who have fulfilled the requirements needed to obtain it.

Strengthening Family Reunification and Reducing Processing Times We have worked hard to reverse damaging Conservative policies that led to delays and deep cuts to immigration levels. We know immigration is important for economic growth and have worked to increase immigration levels, reduce wait times, and build a fairer system. Many people leave their families behind to build a better future in Canada, in hopes that they can be re-united in Canada. But the wait is difficult and COVID-19 has caused further delays. A re-elected Liberal government will: • Reduce processing times that have been impacted by COVID-19 to under 12 months. • Introduce electronic applications for family reunification. • Implement a program to issue visas to spouses and children abroad while they wait for the processing of their permanent residency application, so that families can be together sooner.

I think you should send the email or raise the petition before the elections. Also, I believe IRCC may slow the process further because they will process Afghan refugees first. I hope they assign more staff, its HIGH TIME NOW!

I've created an account on the petitions site. It is closed for now and will reopen 3 weeks after the election.
I'll begin composing a petition (supposed to be within 250 words) and I'll post a draft on here soon for everyone's review.

Technically because the government has been dissolved, we have no Minister to sign citizenship certificate, does it mean everything relating to citizenship has been put on hold until at least the department has a new minister?

Thank you for your correspondence of September 3, 2021, addressed to Catrina Tapley, Deputy Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, concerning citizenship application processing during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have been asked to respond.

Your comments and concerns are duly noted. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) appreciates all comments and values all feedback. Such input is taken into consideration as the Department moves forward with a view to continuous improvements of its programs and policies.

As you know, the Government of Canada has implemented a number of temporary measures to protect the health and safety of Canadians and reduce the spread of COVID-19. As part of these measures, on March 14, 2020, IRCC cancelled all in-person Citizenship events, such as Citizenship tests, hearings, and in-person oath taking ceremonies until further notice.

IRCC is contributing to preventing the spread of COVID-19 by moving many of its in-person citizenship services, including testing and ceremonies, to an online format. After a period of near total shutdown, the Department began holding citizenship ceremonies online in April 2020. As of March 2021, more than 57,000 clients have taken the Oath of citizenship in more than 9,400 ceremonies, using a virtual platform.

On November 26, 2020, IRCC also announced the launch of the online citizenship knowledge test. As of April 2021, IRCC had invited more than 65,800 citizenship applicants to take an online citizenship knowledge test, and more than 43,600 had completed their test.

IRCC is now able to invite approximately 5,000 clients per week to complete the online citizenship test, which is in line with pre-COVID testing rates. Over time, as more clients complete the citizenship knowledge test, and upon meeting the other requirements for citizenship, become ceremony ready, the frequency of video oath ceremonies will ramp-up again over the course of 2021.

Please be assured that IRCC continues to use this innovative approach to ensure approved candidates for citizenship become citizens in as timely a manner as possible.

IRCC clients are encouraged to monitor the How COVID-19 is affecting immigration, refugees, citizenship and passport services web page for up-to-date information related to their application or situation.

Thank you for taking the time to write and express your views.

Sincerely,

Y. Levesque

They did not mention anything about paper based applications. Are we forgotten? Any plans to clean the backlog?

The email is long and backed up with data. Doesn’t make any sense why we are in the dark
