Title says it all--I transitioned from a study permit to a PGWP but I received the PGWP so late that the TRV that I have from my study permit is about to expire. On top of that, because I just came back from travelling a couple days ago, the border wrote today's date on my passport (under the stamp). AFAIK this is the expiry date of authorized stay...

I just applied for a new TRV but my current one is literally expiring today. Does this mean that, starting tomorrow, I won't be residing in Canada lawfully? It's frustrating because I didn't have any control over this situation; even if I had applied for a new TRV the day my PGWP application got approved, I almost certainly wouldn't have received my TRV in time (there were 21 days betw/ the approval and my TRV expiring).

Does anyone have any experience with this situation..? Some information would be much appreciated, this is needlessly stressing me out! I want to apply for PR down the line with my Canadian work experience.

You're overthinking things.

You don't need a valid TRV to remain in Canada. You only need a valid TRV if you want to leave Canada and return.

You can remain in Canada legally (without a valid TRV) as long as your PGWP is valid.

Thanks a lot! It's a huge relief to hear that :) I guess the date written on my passport just stands for the date at which my status as a student expires.
