Questions - Online Application

Hi all,

Hope you are doing well. I am now eligible to apply for citizenship and waiting for my PCC from India for the same. I have below questions -

1. I see mixed review for paper vs online application. I know they will allocate more budget to improve online application in the future. I am leaning towards online application over paper application. I would welcome your input for the same.
   
   
2. I have two passports (current & expired). Current passport has no stamp (its all blank). The expired passport has few stamps (I also did the translation for the non-english one). So should I upload bio pages for current passport in the main upload section & the scan copies for everything (blank pages in current & expired and all stamps from expired passport) in additional upload section? I know online application doesnt ask for stamp pages but I am thinking to provide them ahead of time so I dont waste anytime after I submit the application. I would welcome your thoughts on this please.
   
   
3. Even though I didnt spend 183 days in a row in India during my absence as I did all my trips from India. So I will attach PCC in other upload section including the LOE for the same. In the physical presence calulcater, I will select NO for 183 days in a row question and explain the reason for PCC and provide Indian address for that absence. I would welcome your thought here.

1. Its personal preference. You can choose either. There are some apparent delays in AORs for online applicants but that might change in the near future.

2. Yes, you can do that. Submit the bio pages of all the passports that were valid during the eligibility period in the passport pages placeholder. You can submit all the other pages of the passport in the 'Other documents' placeholder.

3. Yes, you can do this as well. If you haven't spent 183 or more days in India during your eligibility period OR if you spent more than 183 days in India during the eligibility period + India was your country of origin immediately before establishing permanent residence in Canada + you got your PR status within the last 5 years, then you don't have to submit a PCC. But there is no harm if you still want to submit one.

I just need to clarify this point further; about providing a new PCC with the citizenship application:

I lived in my country of origin- India, immediately before I came to Canada. And at the time, I had submitted a PCC with my application for Canadian PR.

However after I received my Canadian PR, I stayed in India for more than 183 days(approx. 7 months), before I came to Canada. The time I left India falls within 4 years.

Am I required to submit a new PCC from India?

I lived in my country of origin- India, immediately before I came to Canada. And at the time, I had submitted a PCC with my application for Canadian PR.

However after I received my Canadian PR, I stayed in India for more than 183 days(approx. 7 months), before I came to Canada. The time I left India falls within 4 years.

Am I required to submit a new PCC from India?

If you "activated" your PR (landed in Canada / soft landing) and went back to India and then spent 183 days or more, then yes, you would need to submit a PCC from India.

Thanks. Yes, I was getting the COPR and activated PR mixed up. I haven't been back for more than 183 days since getting the PR, when I landed. So that clears it.
