Extend Visitor Records while being in the process of family sponsorship

Hi,
I have been sponsored by my wife and I applied for both PR and OWP in March.
my current status is visitor, my first entry to Canada was 18 of November 2020. in April I applied for a visitor record and I got it yesterday. In the visitor record, it is mentioned that I must leave Canada by 18 November 2021. It is quite probable that by November I will not get the OWP. My question is that can I apply for another extension? to stay in Canada until my OWP will be decided.

Applying for an OWP has given you implied status so you can stay in Canada. If you have received AOR for your OWP you don’t have to worry. If you have not received AOR by then you might want to extend your visitor status just to be extra cautious but there isn’t actually a need.
