Hi everyone. In my tracker my test was changed to completed on August 5th 2021. Background verification was completed on
Jan 20, 2021. When I applied Back in February 2020 I remember giving out my undergraduate degree and my masters degree from Canadian Universities. I am currently doing my PhD. In the future are they gonna require those documents from me as proof for language requirements ? Or I won't have to send it out as they already have it? I am just wondering as I don't want anymore delays in the future that would delay swearing the oath.
Documentation of language ability is ONLY required for purposes of making a COMPLETE application, and ONLY relevant for that purpose.
Once the application has passed the completeness screening, that means the documentation the applicant submitted with the application meets the completeness screening requirements. And, that is all it means. It does NOT meet the applicant's burden of proving ability in an official language sufficient to be granted citizenship.
No amount of documentation will meet the applicant's burden of proving ability in an official language sufficient to be granted citizenship (for those subject to the knowledge of Canada and language requirements).
RATHER, the applicant must still pass the knowledge of Canada test administered in one of the official languages, which constitutes part of the verification of the applicant's ability in an official language. And otherwise, to the extent the applicant is asked questions attendant the test, and more specifically when interviewed, the IRCC official conducting that is further screening the applicant for ability in an official language.
Note: online testing procedures have, at least temporarily, probably only temporarily, meant that not all applicants are subject to an interview. One of the things that probably triggers an interview is an IRCC official's perception that ability in an official language should be further screened/tested.
OVERALL: Once the application has passed the completeness screening, which is indicated by AOR, if IRCC has any question, concern, or doubt about the applicant's ability in an official language, that is addressed by requiring the applicant to demonstrate language ability in person, in the test and in an interview.
