1) Currently, your whole family must stay in a mandatory approved hotel for 3 days quarantine before the move to a regular hotel or airbnb apartment.
2) You can try with what you have
3) Same. Since child is born in Europe, wouldn't the child have EU citizenship that makes it visa exempted?
4) Yes you can mention it. If failed, you can try for TRP. If all failed, then one parent will have to go alone to Canada and apply for child's sponsorship.
5) No, just an itinerary. Never purchase air ticket before TRV or TRP is approved.
6) No, because you and your husband are only PR.
Thank you for your response! :)
1. Don't I need to mention the address of stay in this case in the invitation letter?
3. The child is a citizen of India. We are on work permit and as such the child has the citizenship of the home country only.

Hi All

I think I also fall pretty much in the same category as is being discussed here. I need your help with a few things. Let me clarify my status here.

Me & my wife are both PRs. Did our soft landing in Aug 2019 and came back to Dubai.
I moved to Toronto in Feb 2021 from Dubai. I have a job and I have been working here since March 2021.
My daughter was born in March 2020 and she is staying with my wife in Dubai currently.

I applied for my daughters TRV on 4th March 2021 with a letter of explanation (convincing them that she would return back to Dubai with her mom) and all the relevant docs.

I have not heard from IRCC since the last 2 months. I know during the pandemic its all getting delayed.

So my questions are:

1) On an avg how much time is it taking for TRV to process from Dubai? Website says 300+ days, is it real? (Coz if it is true, then that is 1 year)
2) Should I also go for a PR application parallely along with TRV? or Should I wait for TRV to get processed, wait for my daughter to come to Toronto and then apply for the PR?
3) How can I expedite the process of my daughters TRV?

Thank you so much in advance.

@meeta.s09 @fdido your responses would be helpful. Thank you :)

Would suggest getting the sponsorship started ASAP. It’s unfortunately that you didn’t start the process immediately. Given that you just arrived it is pretty likely that IRCC will assume both your wife and child 2ant to relocate to Canada and won’t be returning to Dubai. Have you flagged your child’s application as meeting the travel exemption?

Thanks for the response :) Much appreciated. Quick questions:

1) How do I start the sponsorship process? Should I apply it online from my daughters account mentioning that she is in Dubai? Is there anything which I am missing here? Is there a chance of rejection of TRV in such a case if apply for PR from the same account?
2) How do I flag my child's application as meeting the travel exemption? Is there a form which needs to be filled? How do I inform them about this?

Thanks

Follow the instructions for sponsoring a dependent. The risk of getting the TRV rejected is really based on you and your wife being PRs so there is no harm in applying for the TRV and sponsorship. Approvals for TRVs seem 50/50. If you get denied you can either try again for a TRV with a lawyer’s help (would only pay for them to help you write a letter justifying why your child should get a TRV not the whole application) or try and apply for a TRP.

To flag your application:

Hi Everyone,

This is such a helpful thread!

I am in the process of shifting to Canada. My wife and I visited Canada to activate our PR in Oct 2019 and returned to UAE. Our son was born in Apr 2021 here in UAE. So I am applying for the TRV for the child and hopefully it will take less time than before as the situation is improving in Canada. The website shows the expected processing time as 480 days!

I have a lot of questions regarding the form. Hopefully others here have all the answers :)
1. What would you like to do in Canada? A: "Visit" or "Move there"?
2. How long are you planning to stay in Canada? A: "Temporarily - more than 6 months" or "Permanently"?
3. What is your current country/territory of residence? If you are present in Canada, you should select Canada. A: United Arab Emirates - So the situation is this - I will be flying to Canada in September, and my wife will stay in UAE till January. If the passport request doesnt come by that time, my wife will take the baby and fly to India (we are Indian nationals). What if the passport request comes after that? Is there a condition that the passport has to be submitted in UAE itself? Or she can submit the baby's passport and take necessary steps like biometrics/ health checkup etc. from India?
4. How are you related to your family member? A: "Child/grandchild" or "Parent/grandparent"? This seems straightforward but I am confused after reading answers in this thread
5. Are you travelling with a parent who does not have full legal custody of you? A: "Yes" or "No"
6. What is the main purpose of your visit? A: "To visit family and/or friends" or "Other"? I read someone answered "Other" and her request got rejected. Does it matter what I answer here?
7. Do you want to submit an application for a family member? A: "Yes" or "No"? If I select "Yes", there are a lot of irrelevant questions, so I am guessing its from the point of view of the baby, and hence "No"
8. Are you giving someone access to your application? A: I chose "Yes, grant authorization for IRCC to release your application information to another person" thinking what if I need someone else to access my application like accessing gcms notes (I had to do that)? But it seems this response leads to the below question (or does it?)
9. Did your representative give you a submission letter? A: "No", as I have no representative. But what does this mean? Is it better to appoint a representative then? Does the submission letter speed up the application?

Below questions are on the instructions on document upload:
10. You will be asked to provide a digital signature once you are ready to transmit your documents. What is a "digital signature"? How do I get one?
11. You will be asked to upload every requested form and document. There seem to be forms like "Statutory declaration of common-law union" and "Photocopy of Marriage License/Certificate" which should be not applicable.
The form "Authority to release personal information to designated individual" can be filled only by adult applicants it seems.
"Purpose of Travel" - is this the letter of explanation which is the most important document?
"Invitation Letter" - so this will be another letter of explanation?

I know that this is a very long list. I will be really grateful for any help on even a few questions. Many thanks in advance and all the best to the new immigrants! Hope to make many new friends in Canada :)

In general just be honest
1. Move (you can attach a page with further explanation explaining that you will be relocating to Canada in Sept 2021 and will be submitting a sponsorship application for your baby as soon as possible after arrival.
2. Assume permanently
3. Put UAE but submit a webform updating your addresses if you go to Canada and India before receiving an answer.
5. Your spouse will need a letter of permission authorizing her to travel with your child.
6. Other and explain your situation that you are relocating to Canada and want to remain together as a family during the sponsorship process. You can include proof that you have purchased travel medical insurance if moving to a province where your baby won’t have access to healthcare as a visitor.
7. no
9. You can act as a representative for your child.
10. not sure if there is a digital signature for a guardian if a child is a minor. You’ll need to look at the application instructions
11. Would explain that you are immigrating to Canada as PRs but had a child after your soft landing and will start the sponsorship process as soon as you arrive in Canada but would like to remain together as a family and both want to return to Canada as soon as possible to meet your residency requirements in addition to having extra months in case of a family emergency abroad or work travel.

Getting the TRV is somewhat hit or miss but seems easier during covid. If you get denied you can try again or apply for a TRP. TRV denials have no impact on sponsorship.

Hi Guys

Indeed it is a very helpful thread. I am also in a similar boat and would like to know the conclusion / experience of people who have applied for TRV. Cheers!

2. How long you plan to stay? shall this be immediate date starting today or we can provide future date and submit application now?
3. How much funds are to be specified in the form - funds available to stay?
4. Name, address and relationship of person I will visit? What to fill in this tab as I am also in India with my husband?
5. What reason is to be provided for TRV while we both are in India?

1) To visit Family
2) 4 weeks (2 weeks quarantine + 2 weeks visiting you)
3) How much money can they show?
4) Your husband's name, address in Canada and relationship proof
5) Same as 1
6) What is LOE? Isn't LOI (letter of invitation)?

Thanks for your response however like I mentioned I have a slightly different situation. I am a PR holder and currently with my husband in India. Want to apply for spouse and child TRV while staying in India. In that regards, what should be the purpose of visit, what shall I mention in letter of invitation (address, etc.) and anything specific to be added in letter of explanation (LOE)? Thanks.

Why do people always want to write a letter of explanation in addition to letter of invitation?

Reason being I am currently in India and has nobody inviting me/spouse to Canada. I am a PR holder , currently residing in India so not sure from where to arrange the letter of invitation.

You can’t write a letter of invitation because you aren’t living in Canada. A letter of invitation is to invite someone to come visit you.
