Online citizenship test

I gave my citizenship test on 9th midnight (technically 10th July, 2021)
I daily check my status in account, but it still says in progress. It's almost a week and no update. Any idea how long it take to update the status from in progress to completed if everything is good according to them?

No one know when the officer will review the result. It happens within few days/weeks to 2 months in some cases.
Rarely we can even see 3+months waiting for few. So its cic hence no one can predict.

Hi there,

During the test tho I expirienced two popups as if I was changing tabs even tho the only tab open was the exam tab. Did anyone else experience that ?
I hope they won't tell me to retest.

So here we are on the long waiting line again!

I didn't experience that. But if was for a very short duration, there should be any issues when they validate the test.

did anyone request for their online test to be rescheduled? any idea how long do they take to create a new event for the test? I was outside Canada for the original test dates. I informed them that I could not comply. So they responded that let us know when you would be back. just concerned that it will unnecessarily delay things.

PS: i was not aware at that time that they were allowing people to take tests outside Canada. guess I missed that opportunity.

I'm in the same boat with you. Even though I didn't switch between tabs or windows, I got a popup message about suspected switching. I suspect it happened because of some brief network interruption. Waiting for the test results since Tuesday.

My results got accepted yesterday. I guess now we know that a popup doesn't automatically invalidate your test.

Hi so I received a request in April, I’m outside of Canada so I wrote back and they said contact us when you return or within six months.
Two and a half weeks ago my wife received a test invitation but with the option to take it outside but she had to email back for next steps.
Having send that I thought I’d try and I received an invitation for another test last week, in my PDF it had the option about if you’re outside of canada send an email for next steps….I’ve done that and I’m now waiting for a reply.
I nor my wife have heard anything and I sent an email last night asking what was going on but I plan on calling them to see where the delay is for providing the next steps.

Email to the email given in rescheduling section of pdf, asking permission to take test from outside canada. Dont ask for rescheduling as they are allowing the test to be taken outside.

So to update you all again, having sent back my next steps email reply promptly last Thursday. I resent another query as to what was happening, again this morning I received a more bespoke email which asked if I’m outside of canada and want to do the test then I should reply.
I did that again instantly and I thought I’d hear nothing back for days….by some miracle they replied back and have said use the original link they gave me….I’ve lost 4 days roughly but still got 3 weeks left to submit it. At least finally some traction with the next steps saga but now I’m trying to get my wife’s sorted out as she’s also in the UK with me currently.
Hope that helps some folks, also I received the email whilst I was trying to call them although having say on the phone for 45 mins from 8am and never getting through was no fun but not required now as email received.

I got another invitation to take the citizenship test today, but this time, the PDF document indicates that I can take the test from outside of Canada.

If you are outside of Canada and you would like to take the Canadian citizenship knowledge test from outside of Canada, please contact us (cic-calgary-citizenship@cic.gc.ca) within 24 to 48 hours from the date of this notice and indicate ‘’Outside Canada’’ in the subject line of the email and provide your name, application number and the start and end date for your online test in the text of your email. We’ll contact you with the next steps after we receive your email.

I sent an email immediately after getting this notice, but after that, I realized that the instructions were to reply to the email within 24 to 48 hours. It sounds like I need to wait 24 hours before replying to the message. What do you guys think?

Quick question: did you get an automatic response from the system saying that they received your email? I've got no automatic response, so I don't know if they really got my email.

Only email you get is there standard auto generated email when you reply and to answer your earlier email…you don’t wait 24hours and then reply….you replied back immediately and that’s good.

That's what I thought. The only problem is that this time, I didn't get the auto-generated email after replying to them.

No issue just email again and you should get the auto generated email.
my wife has received an email this evening to respond if she wants to do the test outside of canada and she’s replied so just waiting on the next email which is the green light. Issue she has although is her original time given expires on Sunday and it’s unfair for them to say use the original link given as they did with me….difference is I have three weeks still left and not 3 days.
