Hi All,

I have applied for Canada PR (via Express Entry) with a score of 478 and I have got the ITA on Dec-2020

Subsequently I submitted my PR application including all documents + medical in March-2021 for which I received a request to provide my Biometrics on April -2021 and the application is currently pending action from my end.

The Visa offices in India are currently closed due to Covid and I am waiting for them to open so that I can submit my Biometrics (end date for submission July 29th). Meanwhile I am planning to get married in end of July or in August (with Covid situation still evolving, we don’t have a set date yet :() and would like to understand:

1. Will I be able to change my Marital status in August after I submit my Biometrics? I understand you can, but will this affect my score in any way at this stage of the application?

2. What kind of a delay can I expect in the processing time for my application if I change my marital status at the current stage (it says on my application that after biometrics, I only have background check and final decision pending)?

3. In addition to the main documents required like Police Verification, Medical etc, what other documents/scores (such as Education Accreditation, IELTS etc) would I have to produce for my Fiancé after our marriage when I am changing my marital status?

Appreciate any guidance you can provide on these points. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

There are extensive threads on Adding Spouse post AOR.

To answer your questions:

1) Post-AOR: No change in CRS as the application is locked at that point. You have to raise a webform and inform IRCC of change in Status.
2) As such due to Covid, all outland applications are delayed. Adding a spouse at this point does not necessarily cause "extra" delay. But yes, there will be additional processing done for your spousal addition.
3) For a detailed set of applications required, raise the webform and IRCC will provide the list of docs to send. Registration of marriage is required and the marriage certificate acts the proof.
Note: Updated Proof of Funds are not included in this list from IRCC but should be sent with the rest of the documents.
