Hi everyone, I have got my citizenship online test letter and it will start from June 28th to July 18th but Canada has banned flights from India till July 21st.

I am currently in India and will be fully vaccinated tomorrow (2nd jab), not sure if there are any relaxations for fully vaccinated individuals to enter Canada ?
As bill Blair had tweeted this earlier on June 18th "As we have said, the government is planning measures for fully vaccinated Canadians, Permanent Residents, and others who are currently permitted to enter Canada and will provide further details on Monday, June 21."

I have booked a flight from India to Belgrade (Nikola tesla airport) then Warsaw, Poland to Toronto on July 2nd which it says has on airport testing 24 hours, has anyone travelled this route and any advice on testing (appointments, payment etc) and travel ?

"
Suspension of flights from India
The Government of Canada has suspended flights from India until July 21, 2021."

They are allowing people to take the test abroad, look carefully into your invitation, it might have the instructions. If not, then reply back to the invitation and confirm that you can take the test from India.

Thanks for your reply. In the invitation letter under Important Notes one of points is "You must be physically present in Canada while taking the test"

I am guessing we are required to be in Canada even for the online test. I am planning to write to them if I am not able to travel or reach Canada on July 2 .. I will email them and request if I could take it outside or prolly reschedule.

Just a question, what happens if they do not allow for taking the test online or reschedule it, do I have to apply the citizenship application again ? Has this happened before to anyone that you of ?

I'd be careful as your travel originates in India, they may require a negative test from the departure country you are leaving from before arrival in Canada.
Thanks for your reply. I think they state a 3rd country during transit .. below is what is written on the travel site https://travel.gc.ca/destinations/india
" During that period, passengers who travel to Canada from India via an indirect route will need to obtain a pre-departure negative COVID-19 molecular test result from a third country before continuing their journey to Canada."

I think its ok to test in a 3rd country before arrival in Canada. How would you interpret it, please let me know? Thanks

right, but they changed the rule for some. Your invitation might be outdated. See here https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...20-citizenship-applicants.700718/post-9497408

You have to email your office and ask if its ok if you can attend the test from abroad. if they say yes then you can very well attend.

It looks correct, but be careful of the third country you are intending to depart from. They may need a negative test for you to enter it and they may insist on quarantine to enter that country to get a test - especially if you are travelling from India. (Germany are still insisting on a 14-day Hotel stay)

If you are fully vaccinated, that third country rule doesn't apply. I booked my flight after 5th of July from India and am transiting via London. As long as you upload both vaccination records on ArriveCan, you should be fine to enter Canada.

If you need to come, I would suggest fly to Mexico city (They ain't need any documents) and take a 3hr flight straight upto Toronto/Montreal.

Frankly this requirement is a joke. If they don't have faith in Antigen why the hell are they doing it still? Turn around time for RT-PCR is a minimum of 12 hrs, so all the more likely that folks be subjected to unnecessary exposure. I've seen people fly to Ethiopia, Europe and then Canada. If this isn't proof of a liberal travesty, I don't know what is.

There have been a few posts on the FB group today regarding taking the test while outside of Canada. One person provided the screenshot of an email they received from IRCC that says that the system changes are currently underway, and another person mentioned that they spoke on the phone with an IRCC agent, who confirmed that the change was introduced on June 19th, and the website will soon be updated. So, it seems that it might be indeed possible to take the test while outside of Canada but no official announcement yet

Thanks for your reply. I did contact a few members who had posted on other thread, I think once they contacted CIC, they replied 'Please let us know when you are back in Canada' .. so they might reschedule the test .. not sure if anyone has taken online test from outside Canada or got the permission. I will post back if I get any further info on this. Thanks

Update - I did travel back to Canada thru Belgrade, Serbia. The Covid test was done at Belgrade Airport and test results are given within two hours (you a print out also if you ask). Then you can continue onward (my next flight was LOT Polish flight to Toronto) .. others also took Lufthansa thru Frankfurst -> Toronto/Vancouver. You will need to show the ArriveCAN reference number page print out and the 3 day government approved hotel print out at Belgrade, Serbia to check in at counter. Thanks
