Very specific for agricultural workers. They come from countries where they may not have been able to access vaccines, live in congregate settings in Canada (bunk houses on farms usually) and it’s the least we can do for these workers. Although we’ll be paying more for our veggies this year due to all the extra covid expenses, most farming depends on foreign workers so we should all be very appreciative of all their hard work. Can’t compare this program to other WP holders or visitors.

Knowing people who own farms and also had to work on them as children there are very few Canadians who make it past the first day unless you grew up on a farm yourself. Farmers do try hiring workers already in Canada but they usually don't last long. The work is also seasonal and doesn't pay enough to allow you only to work for half the year. One of the reason foreign workers also make sense.

Why the first group is considered as a priority group ? Is it something related to the public health ?

Yes. This population is more at risk due to a variety of factors including where they live and access to medical care.

So it should be a geographical problem ; it means they should include everyone living there, regardless of their ethnicity.

I take it you don't live in Canada or lack awareness of the challenges faced by this community.

They are a marginalized community in general. Some of this is geographical but much of it isn't.

The prioritization is appropriate.

No, i don't think it's an issue at all. I think it's a dumb gotcha point.

There are none of the regular quarantine hotels in Ottawa. It would cost taxpayers more to bring staff to a different city and then transport them all again after.

I think they're actually doing the right thing by quarantining - heard any similar examples from other world leaders and their délégations?

If we already approved your permanent resident application
If you’re outside Canada and your COPR and permanent resident visa are still valid
We’re changing Canada’s travel restrictions. If you hold a valid (not expired) Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and visa, you can travel to Canada as of June 21, 2021.
You must also

• be coming to Canada to settle permanently (you cannot come to Canada and leave to go live in another country, even if it’s temporary) and
• show you’re able to quarantine for 14 days

It does look like no quarantine will be required as of July 5th for permanent residents and Canadian citizens. That's a big change.
