I did. He said the exam is draining (which it is for most people), not that he couldn't take it.
I didn't mean to insult him, I was just replying to the last sentence in his reply "I can gather energy for one attempt only"

I don't think you meant to be insulting at all. The IELTS is easy if you've had a lifetime of using the language. If your use of the language is not great, then you have to prepare for it like a professional or university exam :). Some people find that prep quite stressful and draining - I think that's what the poster was expressing; not a reluctance to take the test.

To support what you said in your earlier post, there is not much difference between the 2 tests - only the reading and writing tests differ, and the difference is mainly in the topical content as the academic has topics more suitable for university entrants. The speaking and listening parts are exactly the same.

True, but the way I worded my reply was inappropriate and inconsiderate.
Apologies for that Aspirant!
Best of luck in whatever you decide to do :)

Since you don't want to take the general for your SP, you'll have to take both tests. You can take the academic one now, as that's more pressing then take the general one when you get your NOI ( I think they give a few weeks for submissions).
No EE profile without IELTS GT, and no NOI without EE. Two AINP draws per month.

I'm sorry but if you are applying for a study permit you're most probably going to a university, so if you can't take an ielts exam which is considered fairly easy in comparison to university courses, you can't do 4/5 finals in a week.
IELTS is all about learning the tricks to give the examiner what they want to see. University exams are not like this. I have done one 2 month course with my university and got 82% marks. IELTS exam is stressful for many of us, including my friends at this age.

Yeah, that's true. I forgot that. Like I'd said to you in the past, you should do the GT. It's accepted for SP and PR. Don't overthink it.
I am preparing for IELTS. I know the differences are in reading and writing. Academic reading has 3 long passages, GT has 5 passages. Academic writing task one is graphs, charts etc, GT is a letter. But you know the IELTS test is very draining and it's the feeling of the friends of my age as well. Some of my friends have given up, their wives have given up too. I don't know what in this test makes us so tiring. Maybe because of the disappointing results we keep getting. Following E2 on youtube for preparation, let's see how it goes.

Just a quick tip, study for writing as much as you are going to study for the rest of the exam.
Don't make the same mistake that I did, I got 3 eights in reading, listening, and speaking, but got a 6 in writing because of negligence.

I second this! I got 8.5 in reading, speaking and listening but 7.5 in writing because I didn’t practice at all.
Also I filed for my visa in the scariest VO country and trust me they didn’t raise any questions regarding General ielts. Don’t stress about it and just give general!!

I am giving a lot of time to writing and believe me its very complex and stressful. There is a structure that we need to follow, any of those criteria missing and we lose points. A lot of people are stuck at 6.5 which is hard to believe but since its subjective analysis like VOs do at IRCC, unlike many exams like IELTS (reading, listening), PMP, Cisco where there is no subjective examination but we get instant results.

It depends from which country you apply. VOs are strict on some countries, especially my country. So far I have seen only one profile from Pakistan who got PPR on IELTS GT.

I’m an Indian who applied in KSA. They didn’t raise any questions on my Ielts. But yes you should see what you feel is right for you.

They are so confusing! Non SDS does not have an ielts requirement, they are so messed up it’s not even acceptable at this point!!!!!!
I know non-SDS doesn't require language test. IRCC gives a justification that visa offices can have their own specific requirement, so there you go with a specific requirement. For Pakistan, the application nowadays are assessed in either Ottawa, Abu Dhabi or Warsaw. All with minds of their own can assess an application based on what they think is right. And they would never mention IELTS as the reason for refusal.
