@legalfalcon My TRV & BOWP is expiring next month on the 22nd of July, I need to travel back home on October 1st week, should I apply for an extension for both now to get it approved before the travel? My security didn't start, criminality is in progress and Eligibility passed, AOR May 30th, 2020, In-land CEC.

Need expert advice on my situation as I am really frustrated with how they are finalizing backlogged applications!

Thank you.

The BOWP can only be extended when you are in Canada and you will need a valid visa / permit to return to Canada.

To be eligible, you must:

  • live in Canada (Quebec not included)
  • have a valid work permit that expires in 4 months or less
  • be the principal applicant on your permanent residence application
  • have submitted a complete application for permanent residence and passed the completeness check
  • have your acknowledgement of receipt letter
    • we send this letter to your account after we get your permanent residence application

@legalfalcon Thank you for the response! And as for TRV application should I apply now as I need to travel in October first week so if my PR doesn't get finalized I won't be able to travel without a valid visa so should I apply for the TRV and wait for the PR to get approved?

Please let me know! Thank you.

You can surely travel and leave Canada. You only need a visa to return.

One last question @legalfalcon, I am applying for the TRV as mine is getting expired next month, can I upload my expired medical which I did for the PR application or do I need to submit a new medical now? As it asks for proof of medical.
If your meds are valid, you can use them, if they have expired, you will need a new medial

Is anyone here still waiting for the CoPR? I'm CEC Inland, with AOR from May 04 2020.
My current status are:
Eligibility: Passed
Security: Not started
Criminality: In progress (since July 2020)
Medical: Passed (since April 28th 2021)
Biometrics: October 2020
Info Sharing: Complete
Office- CPC-Ottawa

Not sure what else to do. I've been calling and sending webforms on a weekly basis, as well as requesting GCMS notes monthly. Any suggestions here are much appreciated! Best of luck for everybody!

Dont know how is it possible to process application for so long. IF you see no progress in GCMS -
Maybe you can make a request to CSIS os RCMP (or whoever should finish this criminality check) with your UCI and application details about criminality process.

I’m also waiting. AOR May 16 2020. Criminality passed last October, security is Not Started. I’m exhausted and completely disheartened . Have also done all-Web Forms, GCMS, calls, complaints, MP, Immigration Minister, PM, physical letter to Ottawa office, still it’s complete silence since October. It’s like talking to a corpse

Same status except my AOR is April 20 2020.rest all same. Frustrated and today am thinking of applying open work permit for my spouse and forget about this PR. Stay till my WP is valid and if still I don’t get then planning to move back to my home country instead of applying for extension of WP as I feel enough is enough and 14 months passed and to be frank it’s nonsense how they are processing.I have not gone outside Canada since I came and all my things are pretty simple like single company for employment etc

Exactly! We feel completely powerless over these circumstances. I actually just called them again, to hear the same BS. I might try to make a request to CSIS or RCMP, as @Dnrvl suggested. It's crazy how they're taking so long to process this. Some applications were completely forgotten and there's no pattern on how they process them. Thanks everyone, and let me know if there are any updates on your application. Hopefully, we'll all get this asap.
