Hey,

I am 37, 15 years of work experience. I got through PG diploma and approved for Visa.

But I strongly recommend what everyone else said, go for Masters. I wish I went for Masters instead of PG Diploma. And make sure your SOP is super personalized and honest. Don't fall for template format.

No . I don't know anyone. I would strongly advice against it. It will ,99% of the time, lead to refusal.

After masters, PHD is your best bet...

Masters carry more weight in general. It's a natural up-gradation post-Bachelors and a safer route for VO's approval.

I chose the first college I applied to and got accepted at. Everything happened so quickly for me; I went with the flow and didn't wait and ponder.

Some of the reasons I believe Masters is better:

1) It's so cool to study at a proper university. Most colleges that give PG Diploma are like degree mills. Half of your class will be filled with people who don't give a damn about studies.

2) Uni's offer a lot of scholarship. Colleges - hardly.

3) Seriousness. I am studying at one of the top colleges, yet I feel that the professors are not serious about their job. They don't feel qualified enough.

4) Many universities offered either more than 80% reimbursement from the compulsory hotel and home quarantines or provided free or heavily discounted quarantine stay at hostel premice. It proves tht they have the decency and resources to care for their students.

All in all, don't listen to consultants who will tell you that you don't have enough scores in your graduation to qualify for universities. Apply and see.
Don't listen to them if they tell you you are too old for Universities.

I am in my mid thirties and chose a masters degree (not linked to my undergrad) after a 10 year work experience. I unfortunately had a refusal because I didnt attach a SOP. Will be applying soon after gcms notes.

Can I ask what was your choice of program and your profile? How come you did not attach a SOP?

I'm looking to do a Masters in Tourism Management, after my experience in travel tourism of 4 years.

SOP wasn't a mandatory document and i had watched and read videos and blogs on sds and not one person had mentioned sop. I regret it big time.

Don't waste your money applying for any tourism degrees. Does Canada even offer masters in tourism?

Yes they do. I have tourism experience so the puzzle fits why I want to do this masters, its very relevant. Plus my chosen uni has tons of alumni from the very course.
