UNB would be lower tier. SFU doesn’t have an MBA program. Don’t know of schools without GMAT.
UNB is mid tier according to Mcleans Survey. It is ranking 30th in terms of “Best overall”, 31th for both Most Innovative and Quality in Canada. If expanding percentile and including other private, it will be “Upper Mid tier”.

from the list below of 49th,

1-16 upper tier
17-31 mid tier
32- 49

I am MBA class of 2019

The question is about business schools. At least compare apples to apples. That ranking is not for business programs which is what is being asked. It is for “all the universities from the Primarily Undergraduate, Comprehensive and Medical Doctoral categories into one group.” The link below is for Macleans business schools ranking and UNB is not on the list.

I went back to the original thread and the question was “can you suggest me good one and i am planning to apply UNB, is it a good one?” Never seen word “good business school”… correct me if im wrong

if i am not, then its not me who compares apples with non-apples, i suppose. and you could be specific in your “low tier” reference reply

Canada doesn't really have many 3rd tier MBAs. Schools like NYIT and TRU. UNB would be considered low 2nd tier. It's a young program, NB doesn't have a lot of large business exposure, prices is low due to ranking and relatively new program and is more welcoming to students without work experience. No shade just the honest view by most employers.

I dont want to prolong this, but my reply was on #28 & your reply on #29.

The list you provided has 20 Uni, and its so obvious to me most of the 20 listed also appears on overall Top ranking List. And if we say any outliers are low tier then im not sure thats how they define tier ranking system.

I dont understand how you define “relatively new program” from University established in 1875 ( being old Uni in Atlantic doesnt make it in top tier either). and to say UNB-MBA program is more welcoming to students without work experience is not correct unless you have data or attend your MBA.Typically MBA-General class is less than 40 FT students and runs in one seminar room with schedule starting from 4pm to 9pm to accomodate students from work. Those with Rec &Sports Management, SIF do not exceed 10 students each. From my experience, 70% of students were experienced, the rest were through exchange programs direct entry with strong GPA. Things could have changed now, that i may not be aware of.

Your last point about exposure to business environment can be somehow true, but you need to consider location+opportunities. McCain and JD irving being biggest companies in Atlantic hires most from UNB, TD Bank after reallocating financial operation center from Toronto to Moncton, had most of MBA graduates hired from UNB as Financial or Operations Analyst. And ofcourse if the Province has vibrant Economic opportunites like in QC, ON or BC the level of business exposure will likely be high.

I can agree placing UNB as low mid tier.

Believe the MBA program only started in 2015 meaning that it is a very young program. UNB welcoming students without work experience is correct. Not sure how being a full-time student or taking classes all day is relevant. Where as other programs prioritize experience in the work force because they feel that understanding the work force allows students to get more out of the MBA experience versus students coming straight out of a bachelors degree, UNB doesn't prioritize previous work experience and accepts many straight out of a bachelor degree. My understanding is that program has been created anticipating that many won't have work experience. NB still is considered a "have not" province. You can say that in comparison to PEI and Newfoundland there are probably more opportunities but there is still not a variety of businesses and a few large employers and then primarily small businesses. TD bank moving their operations centre still is a small part of their business. In general many of the large businesses operate some offshoot or hire a contractor supplying things like customer service due to the lower wages and cost of living in places like NB. Yet again no shade. A lower mid tier 2nd tier Canadian school is much better than a lower mid tier school in places like the US. The cost of the degree reflects the relatively young program still developing connections in industry and the different opportunities that will likely be offered after graduation. In general MBAs have lost there prestige except from the top tier programs in the world. They are expected to have career progression and there are so many part-time and distance programs that getting an MBA while working is even relatively easy compared to what it used to be.

Repeating this phrase " MBA only started in 2015" makes me rest my case. My Cousin started in 2013 and graduated in 2015. Where are you getting this from?

Beth Webster, a prominent New Brunswicker and VP- Populus Global graduated MBA in 1995

I did SIF program dating way back in 1998 and later in 2009 program had close portfolio of $2.4mn funds under management. SIF is limited stream with less than 10students with background in Finance, FX and or trading operations and Accounting. Eligibility is Second year MBA student and 4th year BBA

https://blogs.unb.ca/newsroom/2010/02/unb-student-investment-fund-raises-bar-with-best-performance-yet.php

in 2011, UNB Saint John Campus added Project Management Stream as additional stream in already existed MBA Programs

https://blogs.unb.ca/unbsj-mba/2011/06/new-stream-in-project-management-at-unb-saint-john-mba.php

Doing MBA while working doesn't make that program easy, most of them were domestic students progressing their career, and were in good number. I would respectfully take a note from someone who attended and relying on web search. I guess eligibility says " Experience is an Asset" on unb website but that doesn't make the whole class with non-experience students. there are basic requirements listed and selection process is depending on number of factors, class limit is one of them.

Please read my posts I said MBAs not UNB MBAs when I made statements about the current prestige of MBAs and MBAs becoming standard. Never said that the whole class was straight from bachelors but in many MBA programs you won't find one applicant without work experience. UNB is one of the schools that do accept students without work experience. Can admit that I was wrong it was the Entrepreneurship MBA that is relatively young and started somewhere between 2010-14.

Dears, Actually my case is a different one , i have a pure science background for my masters and bachelors but is working for the past 12 years in supply chain and logistics . I also have a study gap of 13 years . So all the universities may not accept me . i dont have GMAT too. i have an academic IELTS score 7.5 over all no band less than 7.
I have currently applied in ROADS ROYAL UNIVERSITY, VANCOUVER ISLAND UNIVERSITY , TRINITY WESTERN , AND UNB .
university of Manitoba and UNB also i am confused if i will have job opportunities ,
Can you suggest which among these is best for me ?

UNB and Manitoba needs a GMAT score I believe. Wouldn't recommend the other schools.

Do you not qualify for express entry with your masters and work history?

Unb had accepted me as eligible because of my GPA , shall I proceed with this then , why others universities are not recommended
