Hello Both me and mu husband applied for citizenship in June 2020 and he heard back today with a test date but mine is still not started according to the online tracker. Is this normal process that same application has a different test date? Our AOR number is different I am around 50 applications behind him.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!
Yes, this is normal. Applications move at different speeds even if you applied as a family. Rest assured, your test invite should follow soon.

All the best!

@rajkamalmohanram

We are waiting for over 2 months now following test. In your opinion any use applying for GCMS notes or it likely won't give me anything? Online system has test and background completed with everything else in progress except oath.

Well GCMS notes will only tell you what has been with your application so far. You might get some detailed stats (for example, see my post showing different statuses on my GCMS notes).

There is no harm in applying for GCMS notes.

You are likely to be in line for an interview or oath. If you haven't received an interview for 2 months after the test, you likely won't receive one. You'll go straight to oath IMO.

Wish you all the best.

Thank you for your response. I hope you are right!

I do have one observation though from looking at recent posts on the forum. It seems that everyone from 2019 and early 2020 are getting the request for interview or DM very close to after completing test. Most of the ones in later 2020 are waiting for a few months now. Not sure if that means they will go directly to DM, I feel it may just be that IRCC is trying to clear 2019 and early 2020 backlog i.e they are going by date application received. I just then don't understand why they have to send us invites and get our hopes up and then put us in another wait! Feels like the emergency room waiting game, that keep the application moving with wait at each stage so person feels they are making progress!

Hi Guys a quick question, the background checks are done again, if an applicant moves city, or province or this is one time thing!

Hi everyone, I got the test invite yesterday. My current passport expires in Sep 2021. I am wondering if I should renew it or wait for Canadian citizenship before September. Does anyone know how long it take after the online test? Many thanks in advance!

Thing is, no one knows how long it would take after the test.
If you’re planning to travel in next few months, you should renew your current passport. If not, then it should be fine.

I think moving to a different city or province will NOT trigger another BG check. However, your file will be moved to a different office depending on your new location.

Hi All,

We applied for citizenship in June 2020. Got AoR in December 2020. Application has been in "in process" status since January 2021. We live in Brampton.

Are these type of processing tines common? Please let me know your thoughts.

I will apply for GCMS notes next week.

Best,

I think it’s very normal.. though, I would say you’re most likely to get FP request at some point ..

Thanks. Does everyone get FP request? J thought it's random....
Not everyone gets FP request, and it’s not random.. there’s specific criteria to get FP such as, legal name change, common names, certain nationalities, possible match in IRCC records etc..

Got it. So should I see the BG check completed status before getting test invite? I am hoping to get an update from IRCC soon enough as we are almost atb1 year since application submission.
