Hello all
When I was submitting my study permit I was in relationship with my girlfriend and now that I have received my student's visa I am concerned about loosing my girlfriend in a long distance relationship so I decided to get married before I enter Canada but I have worries about changing my marital status before initial landing in Canada and the effects it may have on my student's visa.
I also don't know anything about the process, if it's ok to get married before entering canada what should I do to bring my wife to Canada ?

So you have to update your profile, if married. You can do whatever you want. Your wife isn’t guaranteed to come. You can come to Canada, start studying and then apply for an open work permit for her. It may be refused. Or you add her to your profile while in process and apply for an open work permit. Then she can enter with you but again it is not guaranteed. You need to show more funds to support two people.

Do you have an approved study permit?

Either way, you'll still be in a long distance relationship as she won't be able to travel with you now. I guess you can update your profile with profile with IRCC to show your married status, but the chances of her getting a visa/permit based on your SP are very slim. You would at least have to wait for 6 months - 1 year and show adequate proof that your marriage wasn't just one of convenience.

Yes I have an approved study permit, it doesn't matter when she can come to Canada the marriage is kinda a guarantee to our love for each other , we both know that it's gonna take some time for her to join me.

So am I getting this right? If we wait for a certain time like 6 months or a year the chances of her getting a visa would increase?

Yeah, the "older" the marriage is, the more chances the VO would see it as genuine.
Congratulations on your nuptials.

Yes, if you apply immediately, the marriage may not be viewed a genuine. Or you wait until PGWP and show you are employed in NOC A, B or 0 and then apply.

If I wait till PGWP or a year after my entrance to Canada, the Chance for my wife getting her visa is high, right? So Just to make sure, first I have to get married, then inform the IRCC that I am married, then after a year I should apply her visa as my partner. The last question though! What type of visa should I apply for her?

Can’t tell you if you would get her open work permit. You need to show you are employed in a NOC A, B or 0 job with pay stubs and employment letter. Some are refused. But you do have to inform IRCC once you are married.

Hello. I have applied declaring my common-law partner and received a Study Permit for me, and received a Open Work Permit for my common-law partner. We have not yet traveled to Canada as classes will start in September.
Now we are wondering in getting married in out home country before traveling to Canada. Could this affect our permits? The change will be going from common-law to married, but with the same person. Do we need to inform this to IRCC??
What if we get married in Canada?

If you get married in Canada no need to update IRCC until you apply for your next permit or visa.

Hello, Can you please tell me if you have an answer to this question ? Because I am in a similar situation, but I already landed in Canada, and I have not yet declared my marriage for more than 8 months since I was in my home country; I called an immigration agent of IRCC, and he said that I don't particularly need to inform IRCC since I am a student, a temporary resident. I got married after my visa was issued
