Hi everyone,

I will try to keep it short, so i arrived here back in 2019 under my IEC, began work straight away and in the mean time met my now canadian wife

i applied for my visitor record before my IEC expired

Me and my wife married last month since and i finally received my visitor record 2 weeks ago after 4 months of waiting just to say that i only have been granted 4 weeks

the problem is when that expires then i won't be able to apply for PR because i will not be under "legal status" i guess..., also we can not receive our marriage certificate until 2 months has passed due to processing times

Would i have to apply again for a visitor record to fall under implied status keeping me legal and at the same time get the marriage certificate and all other paperwork to apply for PR and process it? even though i will be way short of the minimum 30 days to apply for another visitor record? even though this is on them really considering how long it has taken

thanks very much

Apply for an extension to your visitor status before your current status expires.

The 30 days is just a guideline and not a rule. You just need to make sure your extension reaches IRCC before your allowed stay ends.
