Student visa rejection(SDS) caips notes received.

I completed a 2 year Undergraduate diploma in New Zealand, returned to my home country in 2020, and applied for An diploma in computer programming (2 yrs) Caips notes say That my course content/level overlaps with my previous studies, and they dont find the progression of my studies logical. Given my previous education and unemployment history they dont find my motivation to pursue this program reasonable, given the high cost of study in canada weighed against the potential career/employment benefits after completion and the local options available for my studies.
What i dont understand here is that i studies servers? And i have never touched programming in my life. What are my options here?

always go for a matching subject wid your previous studies.. they will see career progression in dat basis only, even though if u paid 1yr fee and GIC.

I have opted for a programming course because of my background in IT itself.. so i beleive it should match. My undergrad diploma in NZ was in systems administration

did u explain in details how the two programs match together ? like did u talk in depth about the program, certain courses and skills you need and how your past experience in new zeland will help you alot. i want to understand this. is advanced diploma the same as graduate diploma or jut regular one ? i hope that visa officer did not think that you are just tkaing another diploma.

VO thought as per the caips notes ---you already have diploma ... so why u want another diploma.... ..... my advice to go for master degree ...

• What program did you apply for and in what institution?
  What level is the program?
  Who is paying? How much personal funds and assets did you show?
• How long have you been working in the field in which you want to study further?
• Where is your home country?

While both are IT, they are also different in a way. SysAd is more on maintaining the system, especially the hardware part, with the occasional scripting (but this is just simple programming). While programming is more on the software development side.

IT is a vast field. You have to convince the VO why you are pursuing a different sub-field. You already have a degree in IT on the systems side, so why pursue another degree in another sub-field. It simply doesn’t show progression. Better to apply for masters or for post-grad certificate related to systems.

It is an Ontario college diploma.. not an advanced one my apologies for the typo in the original post.To be honest i dont know the difference between the two. In my sop i explained that i have already a background in IT, and knowledge from my previous education hence i selected this course.

I'll be very honest with you i have always wanted to learn programming. I can understand the visa officer would not get that sentiment unless i expressed it very briefly(i didnt, i explained that my previous education will help me benefit to learn the course faster. I dont know if i am eligible for masters or post grad degree in an IT field. They mostly require math in the 12th grade i suppose. I didnt have math, i studied accounts and statistics. My question is should i rather opt for an advanced diploma? Or rather try for bachelors instead. An option i was thinking in my head was to write a justification letter in my 2nd visa application to explain them the difference between my subjects previously studied, and the ones i intend to study. My fees are already paid. I'm confused at the moment....

My parents paid for this. I applied through an agent, and he said i can go through the SDS application where i dont need to show bank statements assets etc.I am going to show liquid funds and property in my next application. I have paid my GIC fully, and tuition fees as well.
I have just done a small internship(unpaid) for 3 months. The undergraduate program i did in New Zealand finished in OCT 2019, i worked from OCT-JAN , returned home.

Then you should consider bachelors degree if funding is available. I dont see how you overcome “academic progression” concern. You need to have IT background to understand the difference which unfortunately VO may lack. Its like BBA and B.Com Business Management…

If you can show the VO that there are more opportunities in your home country for programmers (web development, mobile app, applications development, etc), you can easily justify the switch from systems to software. And with a prior background in systems, you can easily transition into the software development side (or what me and my classmates at Durham College call as the “dark side”). But be prepared for a lot of math as well in programming (some courses may require you to create a fully functional game as a final project).

So, your previous IT education is not a bachelor? The difference between a diploma and an advance diploma is that the former is a two year program while the later is a three year program.
