Hi! If I were to apply for a PGWP in late August 2021, would my application be rejected if I am missing some documents ? I'm not sure if the new Covid rules apply all the way to August. My permit expires in late August , that's also when I finish my studies and I won't get some documents until early September.

I saw somewhere that the new temporary rule said that individuals who were enrolled at one point between March 2020 and Fall 2021 can benefit from leniency regarding missing documents but I want to make sure.

Hey,

Having a complete application is beneficial since you won’t run into any delays caused by you. But if you can’t get some documents it’s worth writing a letter of explanation that’ll accompany your application & explains why you’re missing certain things.

What documents are you missing? And this is the only time you’ve applied for a pgwp right?

Yes I know, I was planning on sending a letter of explanation. I'm finishing school in late august 2021, between 19 th and 23rd and my permit expires on August 31st so I won't have time to get the official stuff before expiration.

However, I had heard that IRCC had apparently relaxed the rules regarding missing documents for a certain period, going from March 2020 to Fall 2021 (yes 2021) and during that period, they would allow you to send an incomplete application. However, I find contradictory information online.

Read the sections : NSCC program changes and PGWP eligibility and If you can't provide required documents for your application

Are the official documents you’re missing a diploma, transcript or program completion letter? If yes, you can always request your uni or faculty/dept to write a personalized letter for you detailing all the relevant info that IRCC needs (should be on the application guide) on an official uni letterhead.

After looking at the link above, your uni says that providing a letter of acceptance would be sufficient in your case. I found the same info on IRCC’s website: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/students.html

Submitting your application with a letter of acceptance + letter of explanation should be ok. They will of course contact you when they start processing your application for the missing documents and then you will have 30 days to comply with that request (This is the new public policy info I could find on their website). Hopefully by that time you will have the missing documents.
