Hello,

Has any of you (GCC residents) applied for a study permit from your Home Country without travelling there? I know my fellow friends from PH are doing this and have seen abundant info on this. I want to know if residents from other countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka have attempted to do this from here ? What was the outcome ?

I am sure lots of others here have same concern and would be of big help.

why do people go to GCC countries to apply visa, i never got the point, can someone explain?
No they don't specifically go there to apply. They live and work in GCC, when you apply online and update your current residency country it will automatically send your file to relevant office managing that region.

Hi Shaild - I did query with one of the local agents in India, he mentioned that since the application is refused first time the VO will be aware that you were in GCC, so it is necessary to have establishments in the home country first like a job or entry to the home country first and then to submit an application. In terms of job - an offer should suffice, not necessary you need to complete some time on the job and maybe an entry/exit stamp may be requested for reference to demonstrate that you are in the country.

This is one-off opinion received. There could be more options available.

Makes sense, the only challenge is with the current lockdown we will easily loose more than a month and I don't want to miss another intake. And you know applying from AUH office is pointless as they would reject anyways no matter how strong you make your profile.

I am pretty sure people must be doing this but probably don't want to say it out loud.

oh okay now i see... so most people go there to work may be to earn better than their countries then apply directly under SDS or may be non-SDS and have enough funds to support visa application

I have not yet submitted my study visa application yet but getting to know about Abu Dhabi office gets me nervous.

I am eligible for sds but cannot satisfy the inside designated country requirement. I am working in GCC currently.

Should I go with SDS ? This is my first ever application!
I have suffered soo many disappointments previously by staying in pool for Australia PR for around 3 years. Cannot take another one now. Trying to be careful as much as I can.

Would appreciate if you could share your views on applying for SDS despite not inside India.

Yes and also an overall better lifestyle. However, to qualify for SDS one needs to be a resident of their country of citizenship. This is debatable as some people apply anyways and get approved.

This is debatable. You will find a lot of people from Philippines applying under SDS from GCC countries without travelling and have been successful in doing so. However, never came across anyone else from other SDS participating countries so this is why I am trying to see if anyone has tried this before.

I need to know about this too! I know people who went once got the passport stamped and then applied. They got rejected that time then didn’t even travel second time and applied again. Got the visa and travelled from here too. Please let me know too as I want to apply with the safest route and not get a refusal for the 3rd time.
I cannot travel as Indian flights are banned to KSA.

After waiting for 30 days, I am informed my GCMS notes will take another 30 days. I have a strong feeling this VO had randomly rejected me and not made any notes so seeing that I requested for one must now be making something up. I don't see any other reason why it will take 60 days for someone to download a PDF file, attach to email and click send. There is simply no way it can take that long. Anyone who can explain why these notes can take this long as I simply am exhausted trying to reason anything that goes on with IRCC anymore.

Previously, students filing under SDS in India were not able to give their biometrics there due to lockdown. Instead, they travelled to UAE and got it done there, and still there file was processed from India and not Abudhabi office.

There should be a way this could be done.

Filing from home country is really a bonus for even the weakest cases. My friend who had uncountable backlogs in his bachelors resigned from his job in KSA and went to India to do this. He did this as a do or die and in his second application, he nailed it. There is a risk in doing by leaving your job but the chances will increase greatly in getting SP approved.

Hello, Rogerdude1,

An applicant whose home country is an eligible SDS country, and residing in a second country other than the home country is not eligible for SDS. The regular stream is the only eligible option.

Cheers!
