Hi,

I came to Canada on 27th Oct 2018 with my husband and daughter. My husband has closed work permit and i have an open work permit here. My daughter has Visitor Visa till 2020. The border security officer didn't gave the visitor record for my daughter while we enter here. Yesterday we went to Ontario Service for OHIP card but they said they will not issue OHIP card for my daughter with out that visitor record. What will we do? How can we get visitor record?

Is your daughter's name under his work permit as a depended child ?
Is she a minor ?
How old is she ?

Ohip don't accept any visitor visa, visitors are not eligible for ohip coverage.

Ohip need a document proof that her name is under his or your work permit as a depended child.
If she is ONLY under visitor status, don't even bother because visitors are not listed eligible regarding list 1 , proof of citizenship ( work permit, record of landing, PR, refugee claimants- protected person, citizenship, Canadian birth certificate, first nation indian status).

For anyone reading this in future, this is not true. I know from experience that OHIP is issued for visitors as well, granted the spouse is legally working in Ontario.

If you read the post they are differentiating between visitors and children of work permit and international students

Hello all, I have a situation. My wife is under the family class PR immigration process, (I'm her sponsor) she's got the AOR already few months ago, however, she just got the visitor record in the mail and clearly specifies the date she must leave the country, I always thought she would be able to stay in Canada during the entire process length without applying for an extension of a stay. Any feedback will be highly appreciated!

Did you apply inland? Did you apply for OWP with the inland application? The family sponsorship itself do not grand her any immigration or imply status.
She needs to appply for an extension. Lots of information in Family Sponsorship section.

Hello there, thanks for the prompt response! Yes, she applied inland, she applied for the PR first and then she applied for an extension of stay cause we knew beforehand she would not get the PR before the date she had to leave the country, this is a weird scenario cause she's in the middle of the PR process, but then they say that she must leave the country, we're confused.

Did she apply for an OWP with her PR application. The OWP is the part that gives her implied status and allowed her to remain in Canada. Did she get denied an extension? Before when does she have to leave?

Hello there, she did not apply for the OPW with her application, she was not denied an extension, she was granted with another 6 months until the last week of August 2021, before that she had to leave the last week of February.

So she was asked to leave in February and left then reentered? Had she tried to extend her stay in February? How many extensions had she been granted and how long has she been in Canada as a visitor? Very hard to comment without seeing the exact working of the letters. Did you specify that she had applied for sponsorship?
