Hi,

I have a dilemma. I supposed to be graduating this spring but I failed one of my courses and my visa will expire on July 31. I did my registration and enrollment to finish my program. The length of the course is from September 14 to November 14. My questions is will I still be eligible to extend my visa though this course is less than 6 months?

thanks!

You don’t need to extend your visa unless you plan on travelling outside Canada. But you need to extend your study permit to remain in status, since you still have one semester left.

Thank you so much! I thought I cannot extend my permit since my course is less than 6 months.

Doesn't it say that you don't even need a study permit for programs less than 6 months. You just need to extend your visitor visa.

In OP’s case, there was a failed course. So the program was not yet completed. Hence, the study permit extention.

I have an additional question, I also wanting to extend my spouse visa. Will he be eligible to extend his visa though I only need to study one course?

I have not yet encountered something like this. You can try, though.
Sir,
I have another question. I have all the documents to submit my application like confirmation of enrollment and transcript. My problem is the Letter of Acceptance. The International Education Department is not answering my calls and email. Is the confirmation of enrollment be sufficient?

Hello, since you are still in the program then LoA is not needed. You are already accepted in your DLI. Your semester or program enrollment should be fine.

Thank sir for diligently answering my questions. I have another issue. Since this course is not offered during spring/summer and only offered in September and January. There will be gap on my study, will this affect my eligibility to have a PGWP?

I cannot find anything about being part time due to seasonal courses from the IRCC website. Maybe other more senior members have a definitive input.

Yes, your spouse is eligible and the permit will be extend same time as yours, when approved
