Hi Guys,

My COPR is expiring this month (May 31st)
I'm currently in the US on H1B stamped till Nov 2021. If anyone can help with the below set of questions, that will be helpful

1. is it better to do AIR travel or soft landing at border?
2.if i do a soft landing at a border can i return back to US on same day or is there any COVID travel restrictions?
3.What would be the process and documentation needed to do soft landing
4.My status changed from single to married after my COPR was issued. will there any additional documentation/ updates need to be made?

would really appreciate your guidance on this

Thank you

@sowsiv was your COPR issued before march 2020 or after . I was issued COPR in Sept 2020. I called the Canada border patrol and they said . all persons with COPR issued before march 2020 are only allowed

mine issued in november 2020. there is no rulebook to allow copr holders in this pandemic especially for soft landing. if you are moving permanantly they shouldnt deny. so, the only thing which we thought is, worst case they would deny us entry so we can take uturn and come back. this is with windsor ambassador bridge though

If you got married after your COPR was issued but haven't landed, you need to contact IRCC. You need to add your spouse to your application (unless your spouse is already Canadian or PR of Canada). Otherwise, you will NEVER be able to sponsor your spouse.

You cannot use this COPR. Add your spouse to your application, she/he will need to go through medical, police and background check and you will get new COPR after with both you and your spouse in it. If you want to put your spouse as non-accompanying, then you still have to do all the above (medical. police...etc) but the COPR will just be you. (don't see the point of that)
