I received my PR visa (on Aug 2020) through Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. I'm currently based outside Canada and my wife (a PR) is settled in Ontario since a couple of years.
Our initial plan was to move to Alberta soon after I receive my PR, wherein I would move from my home country and my wife would move from Ontario to Alberta to eventually settle there. This would mean we both would initially be looking for jobs in Alberta, as we find our ways to settle in. However, due to the on-going pandemic it has disrupted our plans and possibilities of finding a job in Alberta, in the midst of increase in unemployment rates and limited opportunities in the province due to crashes in oil industry in 2020 (since Alberta job market/related industries and businesses highly depend on the oil market). What we fear today is, if we move to Alberta leaving our stable jobs in Ontario (wife) and home country (me) to go settle in Alberta, we may be running the risk of both being unemployed for quite sometime.
My questions are as follows:
1) Can I (AINP nominated PR visa holder) complete my landing in Alberta and move to Ontario to join my wife? As she holds a stable job, and stability during the on-going pandemic is quite important to have as a family.
My PR visa is stamped and I've few months before it expires. As per the current rule, I can only come to CA if I intend to settle permanently. In short, soft landing is not allowed due to covid measures in place. This rule could change as situation improves..
2) I'm working outside Canada for a Canadian joint venture company. My employer's headquarter is based in Quebec with offices in Ontario and rest of the world as well. If I'm able to obtain a job offer from my Canadian employer prior to moving to Canada. Am I allowed to take up the opportunity? Is there anything specific I need apart from a valid job offer? As it will be logically to work and live in the same province (Ontario) as my wife.
3) If yes to the above, kindly advise if there are any specific steps I need to follow to notify Alberta govt. and IRCC? Certainly, I will update IRCC if I receive a job offer prior to moving to Canada. Will I face any consequences in future that may impact my citizenship/PR renewal application?
P.S. Our intention was clear and honest, we planned to settle in Alberta and start a family there but due to on-going challenges in the market, it may be a very high risk move to take at this time. Therefore, we are looking for some guidance on the above.
