Hello all,
I am following up on a question I asked here: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/is-there-any-financial-aid-provided-for-newcomers-from-the-government.730540/

I understand that finding a job in my domain might take a bit of time. While I do have some saving to get me by for a couple of months. It is very risky to to just spend them without any income while looking for the suitable job. I also looked at the cost of living in the major cities, and found the 18,000 CAD are not enough for more than 6 months for a couple with their cat (this is the required amount for POF). Therefore, before I jump and move to Canada (I already landed last year on EE), I want to do my best to ensure I will get some income as soon as move there.

My question is, what are the kinds of jobs which are easy(ier) to find in Canada and do not require Canadian experience or any past experience for that matter? I am male, 36. While healthy in general, I do have several joints injuries and therefore heavy physical activities might not suit me. Apart from that, I am open to consider any work that provide an income of sort to support me and my family while looking for something in my domain. Please note, I am not asking for jobs per se, I am asking for jobs types/categories. Then, I will do the search and apply once I land.

I appreciate any input.

Would get a Canadian phone # via voip and borrow or get a Canadian address and start applying for IT jobs across Canada. Having Canadian contact info will allow you to pass many filters. Unless your management experience is from a large well known tech firm I think that middle management positions may be out of reach initially until you have some Canadian experience but Canada has a need for IT workers so as long as your skills match what an employer needs and you pass their testing you may be able to line up a position before moving to Canada. The hiring process in Canada for professional jobs can be quite slow so would give yourself some time. There are also IT recruiters so depending on your skills or background I would also see if they can be helpful. Would suggest remaining flexible in terms of where you want to live and focus on the best opportunities. The biggest tech cities are Vancouver, Kitchener/Waterloo, GTA, Ottawa and Montreal but other cities are in need of IT workers so you may find better opportunities in other cities and you aren't committing to a city or employer for life. You are right that 18K doesn't last long. Having a cat will also likely create obstacles when finding housing.

In terms of jobs that are in demand and are easier to secure. Due to covid it is more distribution and warehouse jobs and less retail and hospitality. Places like amazon are always hiring.

Cook and kitchen helper, caregivers are hiring too.
OP has several joints injuries and therefore heavy physical activities might not suit.

Cook and kitchen helper and caregivers all required some physical ability to stand for a long time/lift some weight (kitchen work isn't really light duty and caregiving my require to support weight of the person that needs care).

May be retail like cashier that doesn't need to handle restock (some larger grocery chain have all the job seperated to different workers) .

Some cashier also requires to handle restock too. Since OP has experience with cats, perhaps cat grooming can provide some income?
