(Unpopular Opinion Alert)

Everyone is "excited" about the new site that shows prohibitions etc... yet what people don't understand is, the backlog is not moving at a very decent speed. It really is just a pr stunt to calm people down lol. Let's wait until December to see if we get our test invites.
They keep inviting 90k people for permanent residency, and we take the back seat. Gotta keep paying those taxes still and the citizenship fees they promised not to charge.

I'd like to see some numbers and facts, if you are going to respond to my comment.
You ask for facts but you don't provide facts yourself. If you dislike the tool so much, don't use it. But you will. So quit complaining.

Yes the tool does not mean our applications are closer to test/oath, but it does provide more insight than ever before. I have went through PR and now citizenship for Canada in the past ten years and I have never had anything like this to check my progress. I choose to be happy, not angry.

100% in agreement with this. As a matter of fact, I blame it to Trudeau. The lack of transparency of his Government is chronic, and shows in every aspect of his administration, and IRCC is the obvious for its lack strategic planning!! I wish to become a Citizen to vote him out in the next election.

The new tracker is just a way to keep us quiet and redirect us to this useless website for nothing! They still haven’t said how they’re going to tackle the backlog and speed up the CIT process. Now, greater than 65% of applications are 12 months or older.. yet IRCC maintains that the processing time is still 12 months! What a joke!
You blame Trudeau - one man, for the delay? Have you noticed there is a pandemic? Who would you vote into power, who could still process applications in a timely manner despite forced office closures? I want to meet this person. This is meant to be a thread for September applicants to discuss their applications, not to bemoan politicians. How any of this is Trudeau's fault is a funny concept but one that makes no logical sense

I blame Trudeau as the leader.. not "ONE" man as you said. It's a broader context.

The pandemic started only one year ago... before that, there were countless instances, and I quote them below. Of course, these are the most relevant ones but there are thousands of other articles, including from universities that allege a lack of system transparency. Do some research and you'll find.

Access to government information

Also, as @canvisa13 said, there are approximately 300,000 pending CIT applications by Dec 31st, 2020; and the 85,000 number IRCC was advertising in the media was a lie. You may read more on this https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uLTJFxlUwXj3YHpXrcvMITBf9YbLbF6s/view?usp=sharing

So to answer your questions, YES, I blame Trudeau, his leadership, and administration...

Okay I guess we should stop this discussion right here, please. This is for September 2020 citizenship applicants. This is not a politics thread.

I think we should steer the discussion towards the timelines, delays, GCMS notes, test/oath dates etc and NOT discuss any politics.

Thank you!

I saw the OPs note about Trudeau but chose NOT to respond to it. It is best if you don't respond to these posts because if you do, you'll invite more discussion surrounding politics and political parties rather than discussion about citizenship applications. If no response is provided, then it is likely that the political discussion will die.

You cannot tell me not to respond to something while you respond to it yourself. I was the first to say this thread is for September applicants , I do not need you to reiterate my points. Thanks, have a great day

Hi Sept 2020 friends. In the new platform, my background check says In Progress. From GCMS not I received last month, I think RCMP and criminality checks are done (so no FP needed). It is CSIS screening which is ongoing and holding the background check In Progress I think. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

will test invitation come only after background check is completed? Myfile is still in Sydney. I think the file stays there until CSIS is done and background check is completed, then it will be transferred to local office and then the test. Is this correct?

l’ve seen sometimes CBSA is involved in screening as well. But I don’t see CBSA in my GCMS note, does it mean CBSA step won’t be needed? Or they can add it to note in future? It seems when they start processing the application they add all needed steps in the note.

Your feedback and answers to my questions would be highly appreciated. I’m going to request GCMS note from CSIS.

I responded with facts and data and NOT with a political discussion. My response did not trigger the OP get back with another political post, yours did. That's the difference.

I hate it when people hijack these threads with their unrelated political discussions.

More over, I requested that the discussions be limited to citizenship and NOT to deviate off topic on September 1st, 2020 (before anyone else) because that happens to be the very first post in this thread!

Opening a new thread for September 2020 Citizenship applicants - Please keep the discussion specific to citizenship application, progress and tips. Let's not deviate too much from the topic here. Thanks.
So, believe me when I say I am not reiterating "your points".

You have a fantastic day as well.

The webform goes to a contact centre agent who adds all the incoming communication to your case file. I don't think that's something they can update but once your communication is recorded your case officer should see it and contact you if necessary.
This is my understanding based on contacting them and seeing my GCMS notes through ATIP.
Ok. Does it delay the process.

Politicians make promises. Bureaucrats make the decisions on which promise to deliver. The irony here is no promises are ever made so nothing needs to be delivered. The immigration minister made a statement the other day about modernizing the IT infrastructure to process applications faster to meet the liberal target of 400k new immigrants. Once again the focus was "New Immigrants" and not pending citizenship applications.
In totality, PR to Citizenship has never been or never will be a govt. priority no matter who's in the office. You can interpret Mendicino's statement as overhauling for IRCC'S infrastructure but again how much of the resources will be allocated to citizenship processing?
We are at the lowest priority as obviously we are not new immigrants who bring billions of dollars when they move to Canada.

I was on the New Application Status site and happened to click on the Find out what your status means link. Not much could be done on the page I was directed to, as there is no option for Citizenship Grant in the dropdown.

However, there was a message on the page inviting applicants to "Help us improve our service!". The question asked is "Do you have 30 to 60 minutes in the coming weeks to help us improve a new tool?"

If you choose yes, it ask a whole series of Yes/No questions (see below). Answering yes leads to the message below.

Do you have 30 to 60 minutes in the coming weeks to help us improve a new tool?
Yes
Great! Please answer a few questions to see if you meet the criteria for testing.

Have you applied to become a Canadian citizen?
Yes

Are you still waiting for a decision on your application?
Yes

Do you have access to a computer or a laptop?
Yes

Can you make a video call with the computer or laptop?
Yes

It looks like you’re eligible to participate! Please email us at IRCC.YourSay-Votreavis.IRCC@cic.gc.ca to tell us what time zone you’re in, and when you’re available. Please use the subject line ‘Improving a Tool – CT’ in your email. We’ll reply and schedule a remote session that’s convenient for you.

I have sent them an email. I think it's wort 30-60 minutes of my time if it means IRCC improves their service and my application speeds up.

Thank you for sharing. I have sent them an email too.
