Work permit application while PR in progress

Hi, my FSW-O PR application is still being processed (AoR Jan 2nd 2021). I got a job offer from a canadian startup last week, and we will be applying for LMIA+work permit now. The company lawyer said that in some rare scenarios, she has seen a couple of work permits get rejected because work permits are considered temporary, but there is a simultaneous PR application, which means the candidate means to immigrate.

Has anyone faced this issue before? Any advice on what I can do to make sure the work permit gets approved? Thank you!

hi, i had the same questions a few weeks ago.

this thread with clarification from @legalfalcon was very helpful.

also, my PR FSW-O AOR Dec2020 is still under process with absolutely no updates after my biometrics submitted and medical passed end Jan 2021.

my WP applied 28th march, was approved with passport back with the folio today, 11th may. so, i think you are fine with both applications under process. hope this helps.

Thanks a lot, @acechaos and @legalfalcon.
A couple of follow-up questions:
1. Since I'm already done with biometrics and medical exam for PR application, I'm assuming I don't have to do any of those again for the WP. Is that correct?
2. I'm an Indian citizen currently in the US. While checking the processing times for WP here, the answer to the question "Where are you applying from?" needs to be US and not India. Correct?

Thanks!!

1. Yes, if you have provided medicals and biometrics, they will be used for any other application.

2. You have to select the country where you are physically in, not your country of citizenship.
