Hello everyone, I am from the Philippines and just wondering if anyone can help me or have a similar situation as mine...

  1. So it's been 10 months since I applied for my study permit (June 2020). I also applied for SDS and received my GIC already.
  2. I've completed all the requirements however my status on eligibility, medical results, and background are still under review or being processed.
  3. Biometrics was completed in October 2020 and updated in GC Key.
  4. I've also received my AIP and have been studying my course online since January 2021.
  5. Whenever I follow up via Webform, the IRCC always just says that my application is still in process.
  6. I also applied for GCMS notes and expect feedback in 1-2 weeks from now.

The thing is, my medical was done in January 2020, so it's been more than a year already and no approval yet on GC Key. I also heard from a classmate in India that people were turned away at the airport when IRCC looked into their medical and saw that it was expired, even if they already had a study permit approved. So I've scheduled a new medical exam and will upload this via webform once done.

I need to fly to Canada before the Fall because my classes will possibly be face-to-face already as my school (Langara College) is pushing for it.

Has anyone experienced this or know anyone with a similar situation? I'm not sure if it's just a backlog thing, but the IRCC in Canada seems to be working very slow for an application running 10 months, considering it's SDS.

I realize that having an AIP will now allow me to take 100% of my course online, but this is also assuming my college will continue to offer the classes online even when they're planning for face-to-face by then. Realistically I need to fly out by August so I can quarantine and settle before the new term. I'm worried because I'm running out of time and the IRCC has been very general with their responses.

Is there anything else I can do that I haven't tried yet?

Hope someone can help, thanks so much!

Yes -- 10 months is way too long. Perhaps after submitting your new medical results, it will sort of "trigger" further review and processing. GCMS notes might also help since the officer might have written some doubts that hindered your approval. I don't see anything else you can do at the moment. Good luck and all the best !

I tried calling IRCC in Canada since its an SDS. However it's a dead end, voice machine will tell you to just send a webform.
