US 10 years visa issued on my RTD

exactly recently one of my friend was planning same and I was in discussion with him so thought to get a proper answer so I can explain him why he can't use it .. and if can use it so how and where

I think it’s always safe to get the information provided by the officer to use national passport in written to be on the safe side. Just in case if any issue you have a reference. I sent email through web form and now waiting for answer from the officer at IRCC. It will be more authentic for future reference.

It’s a mystery. They give u passport and then u can’t renew RTD based on ur having a valid travel document . If can’t use why they give it back. I asked the officer he said ur still citizen u can use ur passport anywhere in the world not your home country. While the general rules says u can’t use or renew. BIG CONFusion

Correction: to get/renew RTD after getting your national passport back, you MUST send the national passport with your application & this detail is written on the RTD application form.

It is not that uncommon for countries to give you your national passport back, some even never seize it. It is your responsibility to understand that you can't use it for travel reasons.

For RTD renewal you just need to send in the Notice of Seizure of IRCC to explain IRCC has your national passport. They will send you the old RTD back with the New one. When you visit the US, just show the old rtd with visa, and your new rtd will be stamped accordingly. Do not use you national passport or renew it until you are citizen. if you want you can just get a new US visa in the new 5 year rtd when you have PR, but all us consulates are closed in canada to tourist visas.

That is something I have no personal experience I got visa but I didn’t cross border

Saudi. Hopefully but its been in administrative processing cause of my nationality probably lol. I got UK visa in 4 days.... Hopefully they don't change their mind, its been processing for 3 weeks, think they are doing background check.

No I haven't! its been more than 3 months... still waiting maybe April? i'll update you if i get an email from them for acknowledgment
