work permit about to end. should i go for PGWP extension for 18 month of work permit? or BOWP?

Can't speak for the other options but I applied for BOWP and it only took like a week to process and was super easy

Definitely PGWP extension, maybe for some unfortunate reason your application gets refused and BOWP wont be valid

Didn't receive any GUs but called IRCC today. Eligibility is Passed! a bit relieved now. with that excitement I forgot to ask specifically about the security step whether it is in progress or not started yet. lol

Called again today (didn't receive any GU after Apr 23), the security is still in progress.
I don't know how much more time it will take

Just talked to a lady and I was told security is not started yet, eligibility & criminality passed 2 weeks ago. AOR Sept 14.

In my case, just in one day security was started and completed. It varies from case to case and officer to officer.

Hi! I had called on Apr 23 when the agent informed that the eligibility is passed and later that day I received a GU (mostly for eligibility). At the time I forgot to ask whether the security started or not so I am not sure since when it is in progress. sorry about that.

I know right! Same status for me and AOR sept 5 waiting is so exhausting
