Hey folks, hope y'all doing well and keeping spirits and patience. This article ia a little bit out of topic for this thread, but i thought i would share it here anyways, as lot of us have lived in ON as an international student at some point and might have some thoughts on this.

Personally, i think it would be a good initiative and measure for ON for a short run. And, other provinces might want to follow the footsteps. Just an opinion

My company has recently applied for an a75 for me from Quebec. I am going to apply for the closed work permit soon, but I had a question. My spouse currently resides out of Canada. Is it possible that I apply for my closed work permit and her OWP based on mine at the same time from inside Canada? Or would I have to get my first and then apply from her residency location? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Yes, you can apply for open work permit for your wife along with your closed work permit at the same time.

All my friends and me included are working in IT sector as engineers or designers, or AI workers and our salaries are way above 56,000 per year.
We all are employed for years already with Quebec employers.
But again we all are still waiting years and years to get residency here.
I don't believe anything in this article.

If I am not mistaken, you change your address to outland and it will be processed as outland then.

There are people other than IT sector also and lot of them and some have salaries less than 56k.

It's not about you or your field but immigrants at large who are being continually harassed for no fault of theirs.

Quebecoise voted for them. Anglo-Quebecers are a minority in quebec forget immigrants.

CAQ will not dig thier own hole by allowing more immigrants as they know they will not favor them in elections.

Get out of quebec the first chance you get and reduce mental stress which can radically improve quality of life.

A lot of healthcare workers are on salary less than 56k and when this virus strikes anybody irrespectively as we know, it isn't UX design, NLP or AI that saves them but the hard work and dedication of these workers. These workers and others like them working in essential directly or those working in sectors supporting essential indirectly deserve respect, irrespective of the monetary figure that this clown puts on a migrant. The day these workers move out of Quebec en-masse, clown and his coterie of xenophobes would be lynched publicly by their own die hard voters.

En-masse labour migration is impossible. CAQ won 22/125 seats in 2014 and then 74/125 in 2018. Sorry but i do not think there will be any reduction but only more support in coming election.

Maybe you are right. All needed workers irrespective of their sector/salary deserve equal respect but guess it doesn't apply to Quebec.

In our office 80 % of the employees are immigrants, usually new comers or fresh out from school. The salaries are below 50k . People usually stay for a few years and then leave because we are underpaid and our boss is a local butthead. If they hire locals for the same job they have to pay them more or hire low quality workers which will become an issue eventually.

Quebec overall is a low paying province. Except AI and some other niche skills, IT salaries are less in comparison to Ontario and BC for same experience. Butthead bosses like yours aren't exclusive to Quebec alone, they are all pervasive.
