Can you please list instructions for a letter of reference that a boss should write? I also hear some of you wrote their own letters and only gave to bosses to sign.

Is an affidavit really required when translating supporting documents to English? My wife translated her documents in Iran and they were done by certified translators of the judiciary. They have also provided certified true copies of the original documents. All of them say that they don't provide an affidavit because they are already certified translators, so I'm in limbo here.

So, I want to know if my application could get rejected because the translations don't have an affidavit?

My employer has written enough reference letter to IRCC that I am sure they have a template for the same. If you are unsure about what one looks like, you could enter Reference Letter site:canadavisa.com into your search field and you'd get samples of reference letter previously used on this forum to help you streamline the important details.

Okay so this one is a little tricky, according to the IRCC description, if the translator is certified in the country where the documents were translated, then it is fine. It is only with uncertified translators that you need an affidavit.

If the translation is being done in Canada
Applicants should use the services of a certified translator who is in good standing with their provincial or territorial organization and certified to translate documents.

If the translation is being done outside of Canada
Applicants should use the services of a translator who is accredited (officially recognized or authorized) in the country where the translation is being completed.

For all applicants (in or outside of Canada): translations must not be done by

  • the applicants themselves
  • members of the applicant’s family
  • the applicant’s representatives or consultants

Thank you! We'll try this. The issue is that she doesn't work for a company but for an university and some things are different.
