Same situation, I want to do this because Australia isn't opening it's borders anytime soon. It's not feasible for students to study online and pay so much. It's of no use.
Are you aware that the majority of Canadian programs are also virtual learning?

Paying thousands of dollars to study a pdf when you aren't earning in dollars isn't easy. There are no labs, nothing. If students wanted to study online they could do the same by buying $10 online courses instead of paying like $100k
Many students aren't able to find jobs in Canada due to covid so you can't count on finding employment in Canada either.

Hello,

I'm currently an International student studying offshore(India) from an Australian University. I started my Masters in Feb 2021 hoping that I will get allowed to come to Australia soon, but the Government had different plans. The Government does not plan to allow entry of foreign nationals until enough people in the country gets vaccinated and seeing the current rate, that could be well into 2022. I'm not interested in doing more than half of my degree paying high fees for online lectures, I already have an approved Australian student visa. I am thinking to switch to Canada and need an opinion to see if my case is possible or not.

My Profile:
Bachelors: B.E in Computer Engineering(2015-2019)
Job: Business Analyst in an IT Firm(Jan 2019 - Nov 2020)
IELTS: 8(9R, 8.5L, 7W, 7.5S)
Current Study: Masters in Information Technology( Feb 2021 - ). Thinking to withdraw after 1st Sem completion(July 2021).

I'm thinking to Apply for colleges in the Jan 2022 intake, once I receive the offer letters I will withdraw from my current Masters and Apply for a Canadian Study Permit.

I would like to know your opinion as to whether I will get a Study Permit or not? Or what steps I should take to ensure that I don't get a refusal.
Withdrawing from the Australia program that you have attended for a semesters to apply for post grad wouldn't be a great idea. With a job as a business analysis I don't see how a postgrad college degree will lead to career advancement. Changing programs without a great reason (Canada has also been doing virtual learning) will already create concern and masters from a decent/good Canadian university is viewed very differently than a college degree.

And you will hardly earn even 15k a yr doing 20hrs part time if your point is to earn dollars. You will loose more money as cost of living than earning if you were here...

fyi most students here in Canada are doing virtual learning, it has become normal and access online library...and unfortunately VO are aware of these situation.
some fields can not be online for example. filmmaking most filmmaking courses are in-class. because it requires you to be in studio. take equipment and film. i understand most classes can be only taught online and it should be because it is less risky and more efficient. However, programs like fine art and film should be in class. you pay 50K for getting studio / equipment/ gears / access to top class facilities that will enable you to advance.

yes i know i am just saying in general. the Vo eventually evaluate the program and it's relation with applicant
Abolutely, same as Medical degree or Nursing needs clinical, and cant be done online but some can be virtual. However, there are some programs that can be completely done virtually, most general studies can be completed online especially during pandemic. If my intention is to immigrate, why did i apply during pandemic and take combo/virtual options and later be like its not working after they shut down borders, its something i would expect to happen.

There are many programs that have had to make huge adjustments due to the pandemic even if it isn't ideal for students.

If I were you i wouldnt waste my money in both countries, right now is the worst time to be an international student especially if you are from India. Just try to exploit opportunities in your hometown.
I would definately do the same, not to waste money and reapply to other countries. Today, European President has announced that United States Citizens can enter EU during summer as long as they show proof of vaccine. I know Australia Federal Minister of Education has announced 2022 timeline for International students back to AU, but there are increasing lobbying to have vaccine requirement for those vaccinated to return back. Canada had slow start of vaccine rollout but now has vaccinated 30% of its population. AU with 25million population while Canada has 37.5mil make AU in good pace when they start massive rollout. As much as I could be desperate to move, I will have patience and see how situation is changing. Never will I consider that option if at all I just started one semester, and I'm not fully aware of what consequences will be.

Hey everyone,

Thank you for replies.

It would take me time to reply to all of you individually so just putting a long reply here.

My reason to switch from Australia to Canada is to not have online classes with no interaction with students, faculties and other people.

Canada is also doing virtual classes but they're adopting a hybrid model wherever needed so that the classes that really do need face to face learning can go on like that. My course has a lot of practicals in multiple subjects, it's a business analytics + data analytics course.

Even if I'm having virtual collaboration with other people while being in Canada there won't be any issues with Timezones because other people will be in Canada as well. While studying here from India right now, I'm being paired with students of my country to avoid timezone issues which is something that I didn't sign up for.

My bachelor's was in Computer Engineering, so I don't exactly have a professional degree for my Business Analysis profile. The degree I'm doing has business analysis and data analytics component which will teach me a new skill as well.

It's not just earning in dollars when you go abroad, working a low income part time job is not just to pay your expenses there but to make yourself independent too. Living by yourself makes you independent in a way that staying at home never will. If you get to work in your field then it could lead to some good networking too.
