Study Visa and SOWP

Hello Guys,

I have one simple question.

My wife is going to 2 year study in Canada & I want to go with her to work under SOWP (Spouse Open Work Permit)
So for SOWP, do I need to apply it from India along with student visa or this is something that is required to do from Canada only?
If this required to do it from Canada means my wife has to go alone first and after few months I may join her but we want to go together. We have 1 child also.

If she recieved the visa stamped and POE letter, you can apply SOWP with her POE letter and her enrollment letter in university. This can be done only if she already started her studies(online or offline).I am also in same situation. I joined online class and i have enrollment letter..recieved POE as well.. so someone in this forum advised me to apply for my husband with my POE and letter of enrollment. So just make sure before you apply

Hi, I am also in the same situation. You are already in Canada and started clasess online or you are in your home country and studing online. My wife visa stamped and she will begin her classes from June onward and I applied also for SWOP but until now no response.

I recieved my passport stamped and I got POE letter. As I am married now,I would like to take him on SOWP. I have few doubts.

1. For my studypermit, I had a GIC amount. As i am married now, do I have to add any amount to my account?

2. Is there any GIC amount for SOWP?

3. My husband is working as a sofrware engineer now in India. so, is there any problem applying SOWP even if he is working here?

4. What are the documents that are needed for SOWP?

5. Also, I need to inform IRCC about my marriage. So i have to submit web form to my visa office..But i dont know my visa office. how to know that?

So basically you mean there is no way we both can travel together to Canada since I need POE letter for my SOWP. How much time it takes to get POE letter?

Actually i dont know about the processing time.. Hope you saw my post above. I didnt apply for my husband as i have above doubts..

hey good to see that your application moving further. So now you received POE (Port of entry) Letter but you still need enrollment letter from university. Is that right?

Also can you tell me how did you do GIC amount?

Hey, your wife didnt apply for study permit?

If she didnt apply, you both can apply together. I thought she already applied.

Not yet, we are just trying to figure out right information so that we can both go to Canada in same time.

You can apply for an OWP at the same time as her study permit or after she is approved for a study permit from India. SOWP are not guaranteed for spouses of international students. getting approved for a study permit with your whole family can be harder than applying alone. If she won't study in Canada if her family can't join her you should all apply together.

If she will not study in Canada if you can't join her, I would suggest applying together. If not, I'd suggest she applying on her own for the study permit first.
