I'm actually expecting an FSW draw tomorrow... just leaving this here.
Haha I can't tell if you're trolling or not.. It would be absolutely insane if they had a random fsw draw just 1 week after they had a 6000 person CEC draw. Very very very unlikely, unfortunately for us.

I can only speculate as to when restrictions will be completely lifted.... but from what I can see... restrictions are already semi-open. Citizens, PR Holders, International Students, Care-Givers, Essential Workers can enter whenever they want... the only people affected by restrictions are Tourists & COPR Holders.

Considering the Covid situation Canada is in now, it's safe to say, this 1+ year restriction hasn't really been effective.

Exactly, the number of international students allowed into Canada probably is more than COPR holders outside Canada. Excluding COPR holders did not make a difference to the Covid situation in Canada.

Ray of hope?!
Nope , I have this feeling after reading about the reforms they are going to bring later, that the FSW based on CRS is unlikely to happen but based on the NOC. They may not achieve increase in population levels if they are going into NOC specific draws which is significant because their objective is to bring in more human beings and money from out.

In progress applications aside, do you guys not think that this restriction on post 18 March 20 COPR holders is long in the tooth now? It’s starting to make less sense by the day because cases/variants are already on the rise despite such strict restrictions. And expired COPRs will only increase IRCC’s burden later.

My biggest fear is that they will cancel all outland applications currently being processed under FSW if they can't keep up with the backlog.
I don't mind waiting but just this thought makes me very anxious

Haha what?! That’s quite absurd. If that were the case they wouldn’t have begun processing the files from the 2020 draws. That would create a wave of backlashes. Yes, IRCC doesn’t owe us anything but clarity and accountability is expected when the restrictions ease

lol I know this is very unlikely but these are pandemic times and IRCC has been very inconsistent with their actions so far.
Another possibility is that 2020 applicantions are put on the backburner for a very long time. A highly pessimistic view but a possiblity nonetheless.

I totally get the negative thoughts but there are thousands of applications in the pipeline. They conducted about 10 all program draws last year. Yes the pandemic stretched further thanks to slow vaccination but there’s no call to sit on in progress applications after most people are vaccinated.

Well, it looks that there will be no FSW draws and the EE will change based on the new budget. Most FSWs who have been waiting for sometime are screwed or what? What the heck is happening with Canada and it’s immigration, OMG!

the "target" is not even the same anymore. the demographics of immigrants ircc needs apparently has changed. skilled people outside of canada are seem to be not needed at least for now. 2022 is secured thanks to the 90k. I personally don't expect any FSW draws between 2021 sept and 2022 sept so if there are no FSW draws until sept this year, maybe it's better to change plans and look out for ways that better fit the new game.
This year's quota won't be met unless they fast-track those 90k applications and the massive CEC draws.
