My mother-in-law 2 years stay in Canada will be ending on september 2021. I was wondering if anyone have applied the extension for longer stay due to covid19 pandemic. She is from the Philippines and there is too much hassle to do if she comes back there (covid swab test even though of having a negative result before travel back to Philippines, quaratine with accredited hotel by the Philippine government for at least 6 nights of stay after arrived in Manila Airport).

We would like to avoid this because of the cost of staying on a government accredited hotel since she to stay for at least 6 nights.

If anyone have tried to apply the extension and how long is the process? Can she write a letter stating that because of the covid19 pandemic, its safe to stay in Canada for now until it gets a little bit okay?

Yes she can apply. We are talking about around 6 months away so it is impossible to know what covid will be like in the world.
