Mine is pre march
It must say somewhere on copr that you were approved before march 2020 and that you are exempt crom travel restrictions.

Can you compare your previous and current copr?

Also can you take a photo of your new copr, redact all your personal information and upload it here? I could then compare it with my previous copr

That reminds me u can too write an email to your VO

How about try them both? And ofcourse get notes.. i recommend getting notes from a friend or relative rather than a third party.
Thank you for your suggestions ill try both and ill ask my friend to procure the GCMS notes.

Hello,

I am also assuming that pre march copr holder who receive a new copr should still be exempt, expect if they consider them now as post march copr holders that are still not allowed to travel.... which in my opinion does not make much sense. I have read that already 2 pre march copr holders got new PPR request so that is a good thing.

I am also a pre march 18 copr holder with expired docs, i have redone medicals as requested by IRCC and passed on Jan 27th, and now waiting for PPR.
What was the approximate timeline to get the PPR for new copr?

Good luck to all!

Yea but the 2 option email was 3 option in my case as the upfront medicals i did recently were valid

I got 7 or 9 question email in dec.. i dont remember what the "do you still want to immigrate" is.. is it the same?

redo medical exam on Jan and now still waiting for PPR? IRCC's work efficiency is so horrible, so terrible.

Hello,

Yes it has been almost 3 months already but maybe that is within the normal processing time of a new copr, that''s why i would like to know about the approximate timeline for those who got their PPR already. But the fact that have started issuing new copr for pre march holders gives me hope that my turn will come soon - I also hope we would still be considered as expect from travel restrictions as we received initial copr before march 18 2020.

Please do share any updates from people in similar situation if you know any.

Thank you and good luck!

If we approved your permanent residence application and we issued you a COPR on or before March 18, 2020, you’re exempt from the travel restrictions.

However, you can’t travel to Canada on expired documents. We’ll contact you (if we haven’t already) to ask you if you’re able to travel to Canada now, to live and settle here. After we receive your reply, we will respond to you within 4 weeks. Once we approve you to come to Canada, we’ll issue you the documents you need to travel.

Does this mean that IRCC would contact us within 4 weeks ? anyone experienced this ?

Hello
My CoPR that was approved before 18 March 2020, expired in Aug 2020.
I received an email from IRCC stating as follows;

Your PR visa has expired. If you are still interested in coming to Canada to become a permanent resident immediately write back us within 10 days.
otherwise your application for PR will remain closed and you will need to re-apply if you wish to immigrate to Canada in the future.

After your Reply we will Reopen your application and review it to determine whether any additional or updated documents are needed to confirm that you and your family members still meet the statutory requirements for permanent resident visa.

We will Send you new medical forms and instructions, and also a request letter if we require more information or updated documents

If you request that we reopen and re-assess your application IRCC must determine whether you continue to meet the requirements to be issued a Permanent Resident Visa. If you, or your family member(s) do not now meet those requirements (e.g. you are now inadmissible to Canada), your application could be refused.

That is my assumption too based on email from IRCC, I don't want to have to get an AL after getting COPR. The March 2020 thingy does make a little sense in my opinion because when the pandemic hit people may already have planned to move and had taken some steps such as quit their job, sold their house, prematurely closed investments, etc. and the post March 2020 people did know what they were getting into. I am not saying it is the people's fault of having expectations but its not like Canada or us were prepared for a pandemic, and Canada has free healthcare they have to curb spread of covid otherwise it would be disastrous for their health infrastructure, economy, and other reasons a pea brain like me cannot think of or even fathom.

I understand it is frustrating to make plans, winning the ITR battle, go through the application process, and then everything stop, but its circumstances man :)

Anyways that was a lot of writing :)

Coming back

I got the 7 pointer email in November or December.. then silence.. then got 3 option email (2 option in case of most) recently.. then after like 10-15 days PPR and its not the usual email PPR.. This one popped in as a profile message.. I got an email stating "We are waiting for your response" from Canada.. and I wonder how many days the PPR may have been there..

Long story short.. I don't have an answer for a definite timeline between answering that email and getting PPR.. It has varied for a lot of people..

Going a little off topic here are timelines of people getting their passports picked up and receiving COPR
Passport Pickup: March 24, 2021
Passport Under Process: March 31, 2021
Counterfoil Generated & Approved in GCKEY: April 8, 2021
Passport Stamped + COPR Received: April 10, 2021

Package dropped off at local Blue Dart: January 28, 2021 (For some reason they did not accept it on 27th)
Passport stamped and decision package couriered back: February 01, 2021

Passport Picked Up : 25th March 2021
Passport is being processed : 30th March 2021
Passport Received with COPR : 8th April 2021

But looking at the broader picture I am positive Canada will reach out to each of us a few at a time, and frankly, really thankful to Canada :)

Thank you for your response..

I was actually wondering what's the timeline from redoing meds to ppr request.. but i guess you did not have to redo your medicals?

I never received any 7 pointer email, just a letter in my account by the end of december giving me the options either to move by feb 27 2021 (extending my copr by 2 months) or the other option to redo my medicals if i was willing to move later this year after feb 27, and that they would issue me a 1 year copr after remeds are done/ that was the option i went for. I passed the meds on jan 27th and now just waiting for the next step which i assume is the PPR, as they have not requested for any other documents.

Did they mention anything along with your copr that you wouldn't need an AL to travel? Or will you contact them regarding that matter just to make sure you can fly with your new copr without an authorisation?

I missed to mention about medicals

I did do medicals.. As a response to 7 pointer email, I told them I was aware that my medicals have expired and that I would be doing my medicals soon.. They didn't send me a re-medical request so I did my medical upfront.. This was before Canada started sending email not to do upfront medicals.. so I don't recommend that now.. The medicals were towards the end of January.. Hey! if they are processing apps based on when they passed their meds, you would be getting your PPR soon

I never got a letter similar to you probably because different visa offices are pursuing this differently

Now to their email -
The email from them stated something on the lines of - it would be written on COPR that your application was approved before March 2020 and that this is a document in place of the expired one.
Then there was that line :( . It went something like - If you don't travel with the new documents issued to you will have to submit new application if you want to move to Canada in future. But I understand why they would write something like this.. They can't get people defer landing indefinitely, plus with vaccinations out I think we'd be out of this pandemic soon

I would think about next steps when I have my COPR because I expect there would be some communication with it about whether I would need AL. But in my opinion, an AL should not be required. Let's see!

All good then, thank you for replying again!

It would be great if we keep each other posted as we are in similar situations almost and i don't know many people who are pre march 2020 copr holders.

All the best!

Thanks for your kind and assuring words.
It’s just that in the body of the email they had mentioned “before 8 April”, which was contradictory from what they had mentioned in the email header; hence the confusion.
I ALSO RECEIVED EMAIL FROM IRCC IN SPAM FOLDER ON 7 APRIL 2020, IN WHICH IRCC ASKED ME TO SUBMIT MY RESPONSE BEFORE 16 APRIL OTHERWISE MY FILE WILL BE PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
