Can't Find UK or GBR in "Territory of Issue" on Citizenship Application

Hi All,

I have a question to do with the Canadian citizenship application.

This might be a really dumb question but I can't find an option for U.K. or Great Britain in their drop down menus. For my other applications (PR, TR, Student Visa) drop-down menus all offered the United Kingdom or Great Britain as options of current citizenship or "territory of issue" for my passport.

This does not seem to be the case for the citizenship application. Although I have never lived in the UK I hold a British Passport because my mother is Scottish and am therefore considered to have British Citizenship. Where it asks: "Do you currently, or have your ever held immigration or citizenship status in a country or territory other than Canada? What should I say? England? Scotland?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! And sorry if this question has already been asked.

Thanks!

Might be glitch, try to reload, on the quoted part I don't recall Scotland as being independent de jure with all due respect ;)
On that note (I'm almost sure you have as it is as old as Scotland itself, but in an unlikely event that you haven't) watch Burnistoun's Elevator for a great laugh on the matter )

Ay I was shocked to see it there too. ;) But yes, they have Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England on there as the only options. I can't figure out how to upload a screenshot here but here is a link to the application: Citizenship Application

I hadn't actually seen Burnistoun's Elevator before - definitely a great laugh!! :)

Well, then just follow the logic. If your mom is from Scotland then so be it, pick Scotland. I've always preferred Macallan to anything brewed in the South anyways, ales aren't too bad in London, but single malts definitely have a lot more soul when coming from Scotland. Scooootlaaand! Freeeedooom! :)

Yea it's missing for some reason. I did an online application which allowed me to upload "supporting information" so I just uploaded a letter explaining that a UK option was missing. I figure they see enough British applicants that it won't be an issue.

1. Note the UK is not a country, it is a kingdom of 4 countries, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. So you pick a country.

The UK is very much a country. Regardless, it's a bit stupid when the question asks you for your passport details or citizenships and forces you to pick "Northern Ireland" when Northern Ireland doesn't issue passports or offer citizenships.

The application basically demands you use inaccurate information that can cause confusion for the applicant or the person reviewing it later.

Hi

1. why sauce, because you don't recognize the United Kingdom is a group of 4 countries? Maybe you should save your useless comments.
Oh dear. I suggest you do indeed google or wikipedia "United Kingdom" and read the first couple of words.
What next? Regaling us with a tale of how Canada isn't a country because the provinces are sovereign?

Not sure what struggles you're having in life but you might want to get looked at. In the meantime please stop embarrassing yourself in public. Good day.
